    2. If you have the time, would you please check your 1850 census for these married individuals John Reid and Esther Gilliland Reid who lived in Jefferson County. Would it give their marriage date, by any chance and the number of children they had? John died in 1853. Thanks Judy

    1. [KYJEFFER] D.D.
    2. Hello Everyone My Bridgit Flaherty married a John Manning. The initials after his name look like D.D. for Doctor of Divinity. But Bridgit was a Catholic and I can't imagine she married a minister of another faith. Maybe he was a doctor of dentistry. I wonder if he was a member of the family that owned Manning Funeral Home in Louisville. If anyone has access to the 1865-1870 city directory for Louisville, could you please look up John Manning ? Thanks Sue

    3. Hi Carol, According to the Encyclopedia of Louisville the first German Methodist Episcopal church was on Clay St. between Market and Jefferson St.in 1842. A second German Methodist Episcopal church began in Louisville in 1848 and constructed a building at 12th and Madison in 1850. the church moved in 1912 to 18th and Ormsby St.. The congregation later merged with the St. Peter Church ( fromerly Davison Memorial )to form Crum's Lane Church ( now Shively United Methodist.)
