    3. Judy, I recently requested information on Eastern Cemetery from Phillip DiBlasi at the University of Louisville. He responded to my request immediately and sent very detailed information. Just e-mail him with the names of the individuals who are buried there or whom you think are buried there at [email protected] and you will receive answers to your questions. Margaret Stutzenberger Judy Warth <[email protected]> wrote: I have several people in my database who are supposed to be buried at St. Louis Cemetery. I have some that St. Louis is indicated on death cert; a couple that military pension files indicate St. Louis. All were catholic. I've checked at least a half dozen 'partial listings' for this cemetery on the web; some of these are just for one surname. Is there a complete listing anywhere for St. Louis? Or does anyone have access to more complete records. I also have some 'missing' catholic ancestors who don't appear on other lists that may be in this cemetery. I'm also interested in Eastern Cemetery. Do I need to just write letters? Would MUCH prefer handling by e mail. By popular request, we are currently digitizing more of these kinds of atlas and map data, and ill be adding more in the coming weeks. Kentucky: http://www.historic-atlas-series.com/ky_map/ky_index.html Pennsylvania: http://www.historic-atlas-series.com/pa_map/pa_index.html At the present, atlas CD's are offered from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, ennsylvania and Wisconsin. Missouri, West Virginia and Virginia will be added later this year so please feel ree to check back often. The Historic Atlas Series may be an invaluable aid to Genealogists, Historians and researchers in search of 9th century places and place names. Many early property owners are indicated on the township and recinct level maps making these a great resource for identifying 19th century land ownership. > Each atlas includes the following 19th century features: > * roads, railroads and canals > * cities, towns and villages * post offices and governmen sites * one-room schoolhouses, chrches and cemeteries * rivers, streams and ferries > * industrial sites, furnaces and mills * early homesteads and farms * land ownership - and much, much more Details on early maps are often difficult to read and these are no exception; however, by virtue of high resolution Adobe PDF formatting, map documents may be inspected at high levels of magnification without additional digital distortion; something that simply cannot be accomplished with paper reproductions and photocopies. The Adobe Acrobat Reader for MS Windows is needed to view, zoom, pan and print from the PDF map images, and is included free on each CD. No other software is necessary. The map data has been created and configured using the Adobe Acrobat Reader (6.0) for MS Windows (98, 98SE, XP, NT and 2000). The maps may be viewed in earlier versions of the software as well; however, optimum use of the data can be expected using the Adobe Reader 6.0 that is included on each CD. 3. The only complete listing for St. Louis is through the Catholic Cemeteries office, which located at Calvary cemetery. Some old burials they don't even have. Unfortunately, the Catholic Cemeteries office does not do email :-( but you can call them or write them, but I understand the written requests are fulfilled as time allows? 3. You can go to familysearch.org and see what records they hold for your local county, state. Some of the records may be in the local branch, others may have to be ordered. In the library that I've gone to, they actually have a binder that lists whats available for the entire state including all counties, but the films may have to be ordered. On their website, go to Family History Library Catalog, from there you can do a search on place, name, keyword etc. Debbie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 12, 2005 12:24 PM Subject: Re: [KYJEFFER] Cave Hill Cemetery > Speaking of the LDS local libraries can someone give me some idea of > what they have there that is not on familysearch.org and how you look > information up. This was posted to another mailing list several months ago concerning Eastern Cemetery: Subj: Re: FYI - Eastern Cemetery Date: 2/9/2004 8:24:47 AM Eastern Standard Time From: [email protected] Sent from the Internet (Details) Since the cemeteries (Eastern, Greenwood and Schardein) have been abaondoned by the Louisville Crematory and Cemeteries, Inc., the judge has moved the entire record set (by court order) to our facility. If anyone needs to know the location of family members, all they need do is provide their names and death dates. The more specific the more accurate the search and results will be. In order that I can get the information to the requestor - I ask that they provide me with a mailing address. There is no charge for this service and I do take requests via email. If one is concerned as to whether or not their family member's graves have been reused, I am able to answer that in the majority of cases. I hope this helps you. 1. Re: Tricks for the IGI batch #'s

    3. Mary, This is MY understanding, you may know better than I? All films that the LDS library at Salt Lake City, the main headquarters, can be ordered by a local stake for a fee. If you pay the fee for it and order it in to your local LDS library, for it to stay indefinitely, I believe? the local library members of the church, may then upload the information to the LDS website, that being www.familysearch.org. I'm not sure of that, perhaps I should investigate further? Regarding the LDS members not knowing some of the things "I do" is not in reference to computer use at all. I was referring to the fact of being able to pull batch numbers from their site for specific locations, and in no way shape or form was I inferring that anyone was a computer idiot. Also, I don't consider myself in the position of "knowing alot". It just so happens that many years ago, I took several trips to the local library and was taken back by the amount of information that is available and I think that the LDS libraries are sometimes grossly overlooked by researchers. The amount of information they hold, for locations all over the world, is absolutely wonderful! My reference to the local libraries was to the idea that you CAN pull batch numbers for specific locations. I had always wondered, if at the main library in Salt Lake if there is a master batch number list for specific locations? I don't know the answer to that one either? Another item I should investigate further. Sometimes the batch numbers seem to follow in sequence, sometimes they do not. I was not aware that the volunteers in the library can sometimes be non-members of the Mormon church. On my visits, all the persons working, were members of the church. None of the batch numbers, or films I've ordered have had Jefferson Co. Catholic Cemetery records. However, there is one location here, Calvary cemetery, that does hold the listings of the burials in all of the Catholic cemeteries, with the exception of records that are missing or that have been destroyed for some reason. If you'd like, send me who you're looking for to my personal email address, and I can call them for you next week. Some of the best known web sites on KY burials that persons should maintain on their home computers are listed below. There are others, where individuals care enough to maintain such data. In submitting the following I do not own or maintain any of these web sites. Hopefully one day "Cave Hill" and "The Lexington Cemetery" will join the Internet. I do have relatives in both cemeteries and the Leslie County cemeteries below: JOHN in CA > FAVORITES LOCATIONS for searches: > http://www.dagonbytes.com/graveyards/listings/statepage/kentucky/kentucky.htm > http://vitals.rootsweb.com/ky/death/search.cgi > http://ukcc.uky.edu/~vitalrec/ > http://archiver.rootsweb.com/KY-DAR-L/ > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jhail/pulaski_cemeteries.html > http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ussearch.htm > http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ky/county/lee/LeeCoCem/begcec.html > http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyleslie/Lewis_Chappell.html > http://rpennington.topcities.com/Cemeteries/leslie_county_cemeteries.html > http://www.kygenweb.net/ > http://www.interment.net/data/us/ky/knox/barbourville/ > http://www.wwiimemorial.com/ > > ==== KYJEFFER Mailing List ==== Submit your information to the Metro Louisville-Jefferson County KY History and Genealogy project. 3. Hello list, I recieved this email tonight and wondered if anyone has any knowledge of this publication. Did it truly exist with this name? "In an effort to confirm some genealogical information I have been trying to find: Magazine of the Jefferson County Historical Society, vol 5, 1939, pg 11. So far, I have not been able to establish the existence of same and would so appreciate any knowledge you may have of the organization or a copy of the magazine itself." Thanks, Donnie

    3. Hi, I'm LDS but, haven't worked in the Library for about 15 years. Would you, please, clarify for me what you mean by: "which means, I believe, that the church members then have the option of uploading all of that info onto their website." 15 years ago it just meant that the film would stay in that FHC for forever. Is there something new regarding the reference to "uploading all that info onto their website", what website? Again, I haven't been there since the computers were installed. I'm just curious, not testing you, just don't understand which "website" is meant? Regarding LDS not knowing about some of the things you do...simple answer for some of us...we are computer idiots...well, newbies...and turning the pc itself on is sometimes intimidating lol. Most of us are "called" by local Church authorities to do the Library work and some of the librarians are "newbies" to both genealogy and computers; or old ones like myself who have just taught ourselves pc ... and are always in a state of learning something new. We need people like yourself to give us the benefit of your pc experience. Since you know alot...your expertise could be used as a volunteer at your local FHC. Many of the volunteers are not members of the Church and about 98% of the people who use our Libraries are non members ... we need you guys!!! Please, keep educating us, seriously, we do appreciate your knowledge, Debbie! Question on the film which you have, does it also contain Louisville, Jefferson Co., Catholic Cemetery Records. Just curious. My grandpa's family is buried there and this Mormon convert is always perking up her ears to see what is available on computer. Pcs make it so much easier than all the mailings which were done to the Louisville Cemeteries so many years ago. I do have most or all of my STANTON / STAUNTON RUDDY / ROODY (RAIDY?) and WIGGINS info but am looking for GRASS info (which may actually be in IN.) That's one of the great reasons for these Rootswebs sites. The other, in my opinion, is to meet some of the nicest people! May God bless you in this His Great Work (and in your pc working), Sincerely, Mary -- Internal Virus Database is out-of-date. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
