    3. Joan, don't forget to visit the Roots Web Metro-Louisville-Jefferson County site. http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyjeffer/index.html County coordinators Donnie and Rosie have presented us with lots of links to helpful web sites that will further our research. There are links to the local genealogical society, Kentucky Historical Society and the KY State Archives as well as many others. 2. Joan -- you can purchase microfilm for the personal and land tax records for Jefferson County from its time of inception from the Kentucky State Archives in Frankfort, KY. This info is very valuable for pinpointing a lot of things! It is about $15 per reel. If you call them, they will be able to tell you what years are covered in what reels. I bought 5 reels that start when Jeff. Co. was founded and which go into the 1840s, to give you an idea. I have found all my dealings with the Archives in Frankfort to be extremely pleasant and productive. Of course, you need access to a microfilm reader to read the microfilm, but that is another story. I have to go to a library several miles away to do it, whenever I have a spare day, and since I rarely do, it is taking years rather than months. Someday, when I am done, I will donate the microfilm. 1. RE: [KYJEFFER] Cave Hill Cemetery can anyone use this site?

    3. Margaret, Any time I try to use the Cave Hill site, it never works. Is the site only for people who live in KY? It tells me not allowed to use resides at.... Thanks Eileen -----Original Message----- From: Margaret Stutzenberger [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, March 12, 2005 10:31 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [KYJEFFER] Cave Hill Cemetery Thanks. I tried this and found that it contains material that will probably be useful. It is too extensive for me to use immediately, but will save for later reference. Margaret

    1. Re: [KYJEFFER] Early Jefferson County records
    2. The Louisville Free Public Library main branch might have microfilm of the Tax Records. There is no 1800 Census for Kentucky. Only Tax Records for 1800. You might try the Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfort and also the Kentucky Archive Library in Frankfort, Kentucky too. These two places also should have the Tax Records for Jefferson County Kentucky. The Kentucky Archive Library is probably were the Circuit Court Records are most likely stored. This library is the main Housing Library for things that the County does not have room for. They also will take items that the County wants to keep and will microfilm them. Jeff Jeppson

    1. Early Jefferson County records

    3. Hello, My handbook says that there are marriage and probate records available (county clerk) from 1781. And, it says that the clerk of the circuit court has divorce records from 1850 and that the archivist has civil court records from 1780. WHICH archivist are they talking about. Is this an archivist on the local level or a state archivist? I am looking for information on my Tucker family. My ancestor, Aaron Tucker was in Jefferson Co. KY in 1801 when his eldest known child was born. He was probably there earlier as well. Is there an 1800 census for Jefferson Co. KY? Are tax lists available for this era? If so, where might I obtain copies of these tax records? I would love to know if there are any early biographical volumes for the area as well. ANYTHING of this era would be very helpful. Any ideas? I am trying to find any other TUCKERS who may have been in Jefferson Co. at the same time Aaron was. Joan __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Read only the mail you want - Yahoo! 3. To all whom may be interested in the above cemeteries, their phone number and address is as follows. They do charge a SMALL fee, can provide some very helpful info, and do provide info on those that have not been "lost" (due to time or other mishap) even before 1900's. They were able to locate 99% of mine. Catholic Cemeteries 1600 Newburg Road Louisville, KY 40205 502-451-7710 Best of luck. 2. Judy: The records for St. Louis Cemetery are kept at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville; as are the records for many other older Roman Catholic cemeteries. I found family buried at St Louis through some wonderful people at Calvary. One's last name (Muscroft) was misspelled in the records. If you would like to email the list of persons you believe to be at St. Louis, I will drop by Calvary in the next few weeks to check them out. Let me know. Nancy Brinly

    3. Nancy: Do you have an address where I could write Calvary Cemetery? My Grandmother, Grace Tate is supposed to be buried there. She died in 1916 and I was wondering if they even had records that far back. I hope my request will not inconvience you. Thank you for your time in this matter.
