    1. Peter & John Tucker of Jefferson Co.
    2. Joan Flatt
    3. Hi, I am seeking some information on Peter Tucker who married Rachel EDWARDS on 01 June 1790 in Jefferson Co. KY. There is also a Peter Tucker who married Christina HAGAN on 8 May/Mar. 1794 in Nelson Co. KY. And there is a Peter Tucker who was taxed on 8 head of cattle in 1795 in Shelby Co. KY. He was then taxed on 1 horse and 7 head of cattle in Shelby Co. KY in 1796. I did a little checking and the Peter who married Rachel EDWARDS in Jefferson Co. was also apparently married to a Susannah MEEKS/WEEKS? Joseph Tucker who married Frances DRURY and settled in Perry Co. MO. supposedly had a son named Peter who is the Peter who married Christina HAGAN. And, supposedly, Joseph and Peter were in Nelson Co. KY on tax lists. So, when we do the county genealogy, we find that Nelson Co. was cut from Jefferson Co. in 1785 and Shelby Co. was cut from Jefferson Co. in 1792. So, was the Peter who married Christina HAGAN in 1794 in Nelson Co. the one that had, perhaps previously been married to Rachel EDWARDS in 1790 in Jefferson and who was taxed in Shelby in 1796? Any information would be appreciated on this Peter Tucker or the John Tucker who appears on the Jefferson Co.KY.tax list for 1789. Joan __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! 3. Thanks for responding Sherrie, but I think I'm at a dead end here. There were several George's in Louisville. This one was born around 1801 and he was married to Katherine Weadman. She remarried in 1857 and George does not appear in any census records after 1850. Everyone though he had died in the 1850's but his grave was found in St. Michaels with a death date in 1891 age 82. I'm assuming he died in Jefferson County but not 100%. I did receive the following response from Wayne on this board: "I looked 7 days after the death day and was not able to find anything. Lots of time there were no obits but only death notices. I could not find a death notice either." I think I'll have contact the county to see what they have. I'm looking for his parents. 2. Pat....Try through your local Library (Inter Library Loan Service--a freebie, generally) to request microfilm of Louisville newspaper (try Louisville Courier-Journal) for the date in question plus several weeks thereafter; I've had unusual good luck in tracing my several family lines in Louisville using this technique. It's a challenge to go through the papers one by one looking for obits, but they are usually listed (i.e., the page # in the paper) in the front index of each paper. I've often located non death related items about family members, too, in such research Good Luck. Charlie Murphy near Seattle.
