JoAnn, Contact me off list. My great-aunt, Martha Matilda TUCKER, married Arthur Phillip STAAB. He was the son of Jacob STAAB and Barbary E. CARNAHAN. This family was in the boot-heel of MO for some time. They were originally from Prussia, I think. I will try to find my information and see if it connects. I do think that I have seen the name Peter STAAB in relation to Uncle Arthur. I just don't remember how. It may have been his grandfather?? I will check. Obit. Courier Journal August 26, 1913 pg 2 col 5 CAPT. JOHN STAIB DIES (My note: John spells his name Staab on all of his other records. I have checked his War record and it is Stab) Civil War Veteran and Former Fireman Passes Away. Capt. John G. Staib, 70 years old. Union veteran of the Civil War and retired fireman, died at his home at 320 East Broadway early yesterday morning of nephritis. He had been in declining health since St. Patrick's day, but was able to be up Sunday afternoon. Capt. Staib was a native of Louisville. At an early age he joined the volunteer fire department and served as a fireman until the outbreak of the war. At the close of the war Capt. Staib again identified himself with the firefighters of Louisville and was captain of several companies at different times. He was driver of No. 15 reel at the time of his retirement in 1910. He was a member of the Catholic Knights of America. Besides his wife, who was Miss Catherine Reid, Capt. Staib is survived by two sons. John Staib, of Louisville, and Frank Staib of Indianapolis and two daughters, Mrs. William Shiphorst of Cleveland and Miss Elizabeth Staib of this city. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 8:30 o'clock tomorrow morning and at St. John's church at 9 o'clock. Burial will be at St. Louis cemetery. Notation: St. Louis cemetery records for this family spell his name as Staab. He , His wife Kate and child Elizabeth are all buried there. However, if you are looking for more information than date of interment, name or location for someone who passed before 1946, we don't have anything. We would have an obituary for people after 1946, maybe a birth and death date in the last 10 yrs. or so. Sorry, but we don't keep personal information on individuals other than what is relevant to their burial. As far as the veterans go, you may find more information by calling Zachary Taylor Nat'l Cemetery. We just maintain the military part of our cemetery for them. The burial database can be tricky. Everyone here in the cemetery should be in the database except maybe for the last few months. If you are having trouble locating someone, try entering just the last name of the person and scrolling down through the list. I know that the database says to enter as much info as possible, but the least works the best. If you try to enter info that is incorrect, or not listed in the database a certain way, you may find that you cannont locate that person, which may give you the impression that they are not here. I would suggest trying the last name only thing for the relatives you are having a hard time locating. Hope this helps some....... Hello listers, For those interested in Cave Hill Cemetery, I finally received the following notes from them about researching/ fees and so forth: In regards to genealogy research, we charge $25.00/hr.
