    3. Dave and list members, Yes, there is an administrator for the list and I most certainly did notice the inappropriate post yesterday. The person who sent it had just gotten a warning letter a few days ago for posting something then which did not belong on any genealogy forum. Since this person failed to heed that warning by posting a second time, his email has been banned from this list with no further questions needing to be asked. I will always give everyone at least one warning before removing them from the list, as it is possible that postings could easily be sent inadvertently. However, this is not a three-strikes-and-you're-out kind of list. You need only get a second and you're done. Regretfully, this list has one less member today than it did yesterday, but life is still good! Hope you guys are all doing well. Here's wishing you all the very best in your research... 2. Kirl Wright
    3. Subject: MUST BE PASSED ON AGAIN AND AGAIN Date: Tue, 8 Mar 2005 16:20:19 +0000 This is a true story and the author, Rick Mathes, is a well known leader in prison ministry. Allah or Jesus This is a must read - it's short but very informative! The Muslim religion in the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States, especially in the minority races!!! Allah or Jesus? by Rick Mathes Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their belief systems I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video. After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers. When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Imam and asked: "Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world. And, that by killing an infidel, which is a command to all Muslims, they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?" There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, "Non-believers!" I responded, "So , let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can go to Heaven. Is that correct?" The __expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He sheepishly replied, "Yes." I then stated, "Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr.Stanley ordering Protestants to do the same in order to go to Heaven!" The Imam was speechless. I continued, "I also have problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me. Let me ask you a question. Would you rather have your Allah who tells you to kill me in order to go to Heaven or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to Heaven and He wants you to be with me?" You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame. Needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with Rick's way of dealing with the Islamic Imam and exposing the truth about the Muslim's beliefs. I think everyone in the US should be required to read this. Sadly this will never make main stream media or be widely publicized. PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO ALL YOUR CONTACTS, IT MUST NOT STOP, THOUSANDS ARE TURNING TO THIS MUSLIM RELIGION AND WILL GO FROM THERE TO HELL AND WILL CARRY THOUSANDS WITH THEM... PASS IT ON.

    2. Louisville Division of Fire does have yearbooks from the era you are looking for. You need to contact Louisville Division of Fire to find the location of this information. Glenn

    3. JoAnn, The death record you cited is probably all that you'll find as far as a certificate is concerned. It is actually a mortuary record kept by the city of Louisville. For some years in the 1850s, a record of births was required by law to be kept on the county level. The law (called the Sutton Law) was unpopular and met with much resistance. Compliance was sporadic. There are literally thousands of births never recorded. The births cover the years 1852, few for 1853, and 1854-1859. The microfilmed originals are available in many area libraries and via rental from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Betty Darnell has extracted those Jefferson County births recorded during this period from microfilm. They were published over several years in issues of the Louisville Genealogical Society's "Lines and By-Lines" quarterly. Back issues can be ordered from the society. Betty Darnell also published these records in two volumes ($25.00 each plus $4 S&H). The birth records give name, sex, race, date of birth, place (city, county or area of county) of birth, father/owner, and mother's maiden name. Volume 1 contains 1852-1855. Volume 2 contains records for 1856-1859. The volumes can be ordered from Betty at 171 Anna Lee Drive, Taylorsville, KY 40071. Births, 1855, pg. 15, Louisville: 24 February 1855, Margaret GEMERT, female, white, Father: Hy GEMERT; Mother: Maria STAIB. Births, 1856, pg. 9, Eastern District: March 11, 1856, Peter STAAB, male, white, Louisville, F: Jno. STAAB; mother: Joan STEINTRAUR (not sure of spelling of mother's maiden name). Births, 1857, pg. 6, Eastern District: 22 December 1857, John GIPPERISH, male, white, Louisville, Father: John GIPPERISH; Mother: Cath. STAIB Births, 1857, pg. 8 Eastern District: 2 March 1857, Joseph STAIB, male white, Louisville, Father: John STAIB; Mother: Mary NIERMAN Above records extracted from microfilm, interpreted, and compiled by Betty Darnell and published in "Lines-and-By-Lines" by the Louisville Genealogical Society. 3. The Jefferson mailing list just received an email that was off-topic regarding genealogy. I just wanted to send a reminder to everyone here that such postings are inappropriate for our discussions. This has not been a problem with this list of members and I'm very grateful for that. My main intent with even writing is that if you choose to forward the said email to others, please remove the prepend (KYJEFFER) at the start of the subject line. Everyone has a right to their opinions and comments on such topics, but I don't want others to think such topics originate from this list. Thanks for your understanding.
