I have no way of knowing if it was constructed before he died or if his family spent the $5000.00 after his death. Perhaps the book has a picture of the marker. It seems to me that $5000.00 would have been enough to build a substantial monument in 1889. Someone must have developed something new and everybody decided they had to have it....ha ha. For you guys, there should be no issues. Have you checked with U of L Archives? They digitally scan and put photos and information on file for people to use. I wanted to send my thanks to all those on the list who took the time to try and find answers for those persons who email me. The recipients of the data have told me they were impressed with what was found, and thought it quite helpful to them. Hopefully, the information will give them new avenues to study and research. If you call the Catholic Cemeteries office, they can tell you who all is buried in that lot.
