Hi All, I'm trying to break down my brick wall by finding my great grandmother's family. Maria KRESSEL was born in Hesse-Kassal in Germany in 1830. She married Johannes BAISCH in 1852 in St. Peter's in Louisville. They lived in Harrods Creek until their deaths. Maria died in 1873 and Johannes (John) in 1878. I found Maria's obit in the Anzinger, but unfortunately it does not give her place of birth or surviving members of her family. During my research, I found another KRESSEL family in St. Paul's. Marguerite KRESSEL died in 1848. Her husband's name was Martin and she left three young children. She was born in Babenhausen, Germany. I thought for sure I had found Maria's family. I looked through all the church records in Babenhausen, but couldn't find Maria's birth. I found Marguerite's birth, Martin's birth, their marriage, and even Martin's remarriage in 1852 (he returned to Babenhausen in 1849). I'm sure there must be a connection, but so far I haven't been able to find it. I even went through all the emigration records for Hesse on one on my trips to Salt Lake City, UT, but didn't find any Kressels. Both John and Maria are buried in Worthington Cemetery. I have not been able to determine what church they could have attended living in Harrod's Creek. Does anyone have any knowledge of the KRESSEL Family? Thanks, Elinor Kerklingh Svihla
I continue to look for burial options in Louisville in 1842. My g,g,g,grandfather, Joseph Muscroft died on 15 Oct 1842 in Louisville. His widow, Ann Aulsebrook Muscroft died in 1880 and is buried at Cave Hill. I do recall on a trek to Portland that my Mother gestured and said, "We have people buried down here". ANY help is truly appreciated! Nancy Blankenship Brinly

I wasnt asked to do this, but Tim Jones contributed one of the copies of the Hobbs Chapel Burial Ground listings, and in return, Id like to see if we could assist with one of his brick walls. Yes! I'm very interested Tim! I would like to compare the listing you have with the one in the Wilderness Road Cemeteries Book. I thought my listing was a partial, but at the end, it states "this completes the Hobb Burial Ground" as if they did a complete one. My book has a listing of about 50 people buried there. The book can be purchased at Amazon.com for about $13.00 Just log onto their website and there are various people selling it. Penny
Cave Hill Cemetery is online. They have a listing of burials that you can search. I visited the cemetery about a month ago. The employees there are wonderful. I was looking for the graves of my great, great grandparents and some other family members. One of the employees mapped out the cemetery for me and showed me the locations of the graves. He even offered to take me to the areas if I could not find them. The cemetery employees will take a photo of the graves for you or even do an etching. There are some famous people buried here and the tombstones are breath-taking. Col. Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken is buried here. You can call the cemetery at (502) 451-5630 and one of the staff will help you by phone. penny
Donnie, I checked my copy. There is no photo of his grave but he is mentioned several times. Sharon

Hi all I am wondering if anyone knows of a list of people buried in The old Central State Cemetery?? A ggg grandmother of a distant cousin is believed to be buried there. The hospital will not release any records without proof that you are a direct descendent. The want birth and death records all the way back. Might as well want blood. Any suggestions??
