My mother and her mother both have very unusal given names. Mother's is Ophus (Ophus McNutt Cook) and Grandmother's is Onie (Onie Garrett McNutt). I have been unable to link either of these names to anyone in particular, but there is possibility that it could go back to the maiden name of Onie's paternal grandfather, since I am still trying to locate who his parents are (John Washington Garrett, born: June 17, 1863 and died: October 4, 1929). Last week I put both names in the LDS files and came up with both of them being surnames. Ophus is German and Onie is English. Just a thought about a great puzzle. Glenda Cook Melson Lebanon, MO
