Hi everyone: Elopement might not be the best term. A correspondent in southern Illinois told me that the marriage records for that area in the 1840-70 period revealed many residents of KY going to Illinois to get married in counties that border the Ohio river. If the reverse also occurred, -couples from Illinois crossing to KY to get married, -where would be the most likely place for this to occur. Would it be Paducah?
