    1. [KYJP-L] Scotts of Hickman County
    2. Hi JP List, Samuel H. SCOTT b. 1793 in Virginia came to Hickman County in 1822-23. He "homesteaded" or was given 160 acres on the Bayou de Chein watercourse and lived there until 1856-57 when he and his family migrated again to Lawerence County, Missouri. Samuel married a Catherine G. (?) in 1835. They had 11 children: Lucy, Susan, Eliza, Thomas T., Winfield (male), Virgil, John, Martha, William, Charna and Pocohantas. His oldest son Thomas T. SCOTT b. 8-18-1834 remained in Hickman County and raised a large family. He married Emely C. JONES (b. 1-5-1838 in Va. d. 3-5-1885) on May 18, 1858 in Hickman County. Their children were: William W. ; Henry, George, James, John, Hollie, Walter Houston, Edna, Ogden, Alfred Alexander, and Nellie. I have a report that Samuel H. had been previously married in Virginia to a Elizabeth PEGRAM in Dinwidde Co. Va. and that he migrated to Hickman County in the company of a female named Winfield SCOTT, who alledgedly was the daughter of Gen. Winfield SCOTT and Lucy BAKER (who died in 1816). According to the report Winfield (the daughter), marries in 1829, at the age of 15 in Hickman County. I have been unable to confirm the SCOTT-PEGRAM connection. There are no Hickman County records that I have found to the Winfield story or marriage. The story is that she later went to Texas. Also unable to tie Samuel H. to his roots..... Would be glad to share with anyone about this family...... Gene Scott Atlanta
