Really stumped on this one. Great Granpa SAMUEL A. FIELDS (1845-1898), s/o M.F (Major) FIELDS. Was a Ballard Co resident most of his life. Fought in Civil War as a teen & according to family legend - as a Union soldier. I can find nothing in present family info.or any online Regimental rosters on Rootsweb listling him. Does anyone know the names of Union units formed in this part of the state? I'd like to go thru their roster lists one at a time until I find him. Thanks, Terry
