My friends - I trust that everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving holiday. Now, onward toward Christmas. As we resume data postings today, we are returning to our review of Graves County Vital Statistics births in the period 1852-1859. In prior installments in this series, we had worked our way up to the year 1855, and we will continue with this year in tonight's segment. I probably should take a moment to again remind all of us that these early vital statistics records in KY are woefully inaccurate and incomplete, so use their facts with caution, and always try to have another reliable record as a corroboration(or as indication of error in the VS records). Only about 40%-50% of the births, marriages and deaths which occurred in KY counties in this time period ever found their way into these VS records. In Graves County, sadly, due to the courthouse fire in 1887, these VS records are, in many cases, the only data available on some of these people. If you see a name in the list below which is of interest to you, and you would like the full dataset for that individual(which normally, but not always, includes the sex of the child, if not obvious, date of birth, and name of father and maiden name of mother), please let me know and I will forward that information on to you. As is usual, your assistance in not resending this entire message back to me with your request is greatly appreciated. We have had some 9 new subscribers join us in the past few days, and I want to welcome them to our family, and invite them to post their research needs for the 8 counties of the KY Jackson Purchase region here to the List. Among our 580 subscribers, there will very likely be someone who is working on the same lines and the sharing of information is usually worthwhile for both parties. The JP FAQ Page is available for your "Frequently Asked Questions" about the region, as is the JP Images website(both URL's were given in the Welcome Message). Our new subscribers are also invited to visit the searchable JP List Archives, located here: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=KYJacksonPurchase-L These Archives contain the nearly 3000 messages which have been posted here since the inception of this List two years ago, as well as my 300+ data posts. Again, welcome. -B ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Graves County - Vital Statistics Records - 1852-1859 - Births - Part 16 M=Male F=Female Tucker, Nancy F.
