My grandparents were born in Graves County in 1900 and 1901. They married in 1919 and my mother was born in 1920. Does anyone have any clues as to why they would have lied about their ages on my mother's birth certificate? It says they were 25 and 24, not 20 and 19 as they should have been. As far as I can tell from looking at their marriage certificate and bond, everything was done legally. I just wondered if there was some compelling reason or societal issue as to why they would lie about their ages.
