Hi I'm new at this searching over the Internet but I've certainly enjoyed becoming one of the Jackson Purchase List. I'm looking for two brothers and their families. As we understand there were three Bedwell brothers who came from NC, who traveled to a "river" possible in east Tennessee, where they separated, one going north, one south, and one west. The one who came west is my ancestor, and we do not know what happened to the other two. The first records I can find on Hugh M. Bedwell are a tax list for Marshall County, Tennessee in 1839. It shows he was taxed $1.12 for 145 acres of land. Hugh moved his family from Tennessee to Calloway County, Kentucky between 1839 and 1840, as he shows up in the 1840 Calloway County, KY census with a total of 5 members in his family. Hugh was born 7 April 1815, died 24 December 1881. He was married to Elizabeth (?) who was born 18 September 1816 and died 19 August 1894. They had 6 children, Marcelles C., Archibald C., Mary M., John J. (my great grandfather), Minerva and a stillborn infant. I do not know the names of the two missing brothers, but maybe someone out there can join these pieces together. I have much information on John J. Bedwell's family from 1875 through 1993 if anyone is interested. I can be contacted at jfitzpa757@aol.com Thanks, Judy FitzPatrick jfitzpa757@aol.com
