I am a descendant of Susan C (Susannah) Walker Hainline from Graves Co, KY and am looking for info on her parentage. After the death of her husband during the Civil War years, Susan Hainline is found in the 1870 Graves Co census at age 44 with her children and a 56 year old tanner named William Walker living with her. Although the census shows her born in KY, 1850 and 1860 census records show her born in VA. William is shown as born in VA. William is found in 1860 at age 41 next door to Susan and her husband B.H. Hainline. In 1850 I find William Walker Sr at age 31 living with a G. and Susan (ages 56 and 53) Walker and a 10 year old William. G., William Sr. and the younger William are all shown as born in VA. It appears (unconfirmed) that William is Susan's brother and G. and Susan are their parents. It also appears they may have been in VA in 1840. I find only a Joseph and Robert Walker in Graves Co, KY in 1840 census records and William Jr. was born there. Susan would have been about 15 at that time and possibly still single with parents. I can find neither Susan or William in 1880, although her tombstone indicates she didn't die until 1890 and was buried with the name Hainline. She was probably with her son William W. Hainline and not counted, as the property was still in the family at that time. Is anyone familiar with this family? Do you know from what county in VA they originated? R Ellis Austin, TX
