My friends - Today, we are looking at more circuit court cases from Hickman County in the 1850-1870 time frame. In the past, I have posted some of these cases for Hickman, and these are a continuation of that effort. The listing below reflects the names of the name of the plaintiff(s) and defendant(s). I transcribed these several years ago for many of the pre-1870 cases. The case files are extant for most of these. Perhaps 50% of these cases involve unpaid notes and other minor matters, but the Commonwealth cases(those in which the plaintiff is the Commonwealth of Kentucky) are criminal in nature, and the other civil matters may produce facts or clues about the person or families involved. It is true that for every 10 cases which are reviewed, there may be only one that yields clues, but sometimes that one can be very fruitful in its genealogical bounty. I will continue bring more of these cases as we go along. -B +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Hickman County - Circuit Court Cases - 1850 -1870 Plaintiff(s) Defendant(s) Commonwealth of KY vs. John Johnson (Gaming) " vs. R.M.Seay(Keeping a gaming house) " vs. George Wilson(Selling/trading with a slave) " vs. J.Clark (road out of repair) " vs. E.A.Smedley(Keeping a tippling house) " vs. G.Phillips(road out of repair) " vs. Wm.
