    3. Bill, I want to thank you for these updates. I am, as you probably know, especially interested in the KY-IL migrations of the Winchesters (particularly those from Marshall Co), if any. I got a one card image of a pension from ancestry (Civil War Pension) - very limited in detail. Are you saying that there are more lengthy files available at the NA? Thanks again for your work. -Terry Winchester Evansville, IN KYJacksonPurchase-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: From: Bill Utterback <billco@ARN.NET> To: KYJacksonPurchase-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Residents of Illinois From Kentucky - 19th Century My friends - I have recently been exploring, as you know, early newspapers from the larger cities, watching for references to events in the JP, or events which may have affected the JP region. I have also been accessing some fee based databases which contain information about JP residents who moved on to Illinois. It is often minimal, coming from "mug books" published in the are in which the material originated, but I have gathered a few together and will show them below. In some cases, I may have a bit more on some of these people(area of Illinois in which they lived, parents in a very few cases, and some other minimal facts). If there is a name shown in which you have a particular interest, you can drop me a note off-list and I will be glad to supply anything additional that may be present(if there is anything else)in the original record. In another area, I want to again encourage our subscribers who have, in years past, requested pension and other records on ancestors and family members who served in the Revolution and later wars(1812, Mexican, etc.), to request these records from the National Archives again, but specifying that you wish to receive the "complete file". Up until several years ago, the Archives sent copies only of documents which the archivist felt would be useful. That service can still be requested, but no archivist or archives technician can know whether materials of less than a direct nature can be useful to the genealogist. As a result, in order to insure that all of the documents are at your disposal for review, ordering the complete file will serve that purpose. It is rather expensive, at $37.00 per complete file, but no charge is made if no file is found. I have been re-ordering those which I had ordered years ago, and it is surprising what sort of additional information may be present in these files, which was not included with what was received years ago, even including the letters from descendants in the late 19th and early 20th century, requesting information from these files. It can be fascinating, and often very informative. -B +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Residents of Illinois - 19th century - From: Graves County: McGee, Francis M.
