WAR OF 1812 VETERAN GETS GRAVE MARKER Robert West Powell, born 4 Feb.1787 in Culpepper Co., Virginia, moved to Adair Co., Ky. in 1810 and subsequently to Fulton Co. in 1829 (then Hickman Co.) He was Captian of Rice's Company of the Kentucky Mounted Infantry during The War of 1812. He died in Fulton County on June 13, 1853 and is buried next to his wife, Elizabeth G. Dawson, at Poplar Grove Cemetery on the Hickman-Union City Highway. On Veteran's Day, Friday Nov. 11 at 4pm a headstone will be erected in his honor. The public is invited to attend and if you know anyone that is a descendant of Mr. Powell's, please let them know of the occasion, so they may attend.
