Winchester cemetery is supposed to be located in Calloway Co. Does anyone know of this cemetery, and whether or not anyone has indexed it? I followed a couple of links to its existence, but I haven't been able to locate an index. Also, does anyone know if this cemetery relates to the Winchester family of Marshall County, or how it got its name? I'm grateful for any help. Dear Terry Winchester and List, There is a Winchester Cemetery in Calloway County. To get to it, here are directions. From the intersection of Main Street and 12th Street in Murray, Calloway County, Kentucky, drive Southeast on State Road 121 for 10.4 miles until you reach the intersection with State Road 444, which is a point referred to as New Concord. Turn left onto SR 444, heading first north, then east, and then wiggling northeast. Drive 5 miles until you reach Beat Farmer Road, coming in from you left. Just before you reach Beat Farmer Road, there will be a road on your right called Blood River Church Road. Turn left on Beat Farmer Road, heading generally north. Drive for 0.4 miles where you will come to a fork in the road with Dunn Road. Take a left at the first fork, then the right at the second fork, keeping on Beat Farmer Road which is now heading northwest. From the intersection with Dunn Road, continue on Beat Farmer Road for 0.3 miles, where there will be a fork with Winchester Cemetery Road. Take the left Fork which will be Winchester Cemetery Road. For one mile, the Winchester Cemetery Road will continue northwest and then turn south, ending at the cemetery. This apparent entrance to this cemetery is only 900 feet from the backwaters of the Tennessee River. Along this mile, the elevation of the road will drop from approximately 500 feet to 400 feet above sea level. The road names used in this report are the ones I have on a computer map dated 1998, however, I have found that some road names on this map have changed, or just may be known locally by another name. If you can work with GPS Data, the cemetery is located at 36.5983 Degrees of North Latitude and 88.1169 Degrees of West Longitude. Restated, that is 35 Degrees 35.90 Minutes of North Latitude, and 88 Degrees 7.02 Minutes of West Latitude. I hope that this helps you. James R. There was a discussion on this cemetery a few months ago. Do a search of the archives. Right before you get to Beat Farmer, Blood River Baptist Church is on the left. There is no Dunn Road, and it isn't a Y. It is a road to the left named Flora (unless they've changed it in the last few weeks). I was out there less than a month ago. Otherwise the directions are correct. It used to be known as Blood River Baptist Church cemetery, but church was moved. My records are between computers right now, so can't tell you much else. I have some pictures of the cemetery that I can send when I get my records on this new computer.
