Nina, The Federal Census only took Mortality schedules for the years 1850 - 1880. They can be found on ancestry.com for subscribing members. The Calloway County Mortality schedule for 1870 lists 63 names. Tell me what names you are interested in and I will do a lookup for you. Can anyone tell me if there are Mortality Census for 1870 or 1900 for Calloway Co? If so, can they be accessed on the Internet? Nina Williams
1920 Marshall Co. census has Joe Cross Creason living with his grandmother, Victoria Tucker, a widow. A few houses up is E. Cross with son in law Herman Creason and Reba Creason. I am looking for Victoria Tucker's maiden name, does anyone know what it was?
I have been told that David R. Boaz, who was born April 24, 1790, died January 19, 1862 and is buried in the Murray City Cemetery with his wife Susan W. (1787-1872), was a veteran of the War of 1812. Can anybody tell me about his military service? Thanks Greg
Can anyone tell me what this means, "LDS Baptism: LIVE"? I often see it in files that people have sent to me. Thanks, Dave Ray
Would those subscribers who descend from the Revolutionary War veteran, Andrew Meloan, please contact me off-list? Thanks..... -B ====================================================================
Hi All, I am an AOL person and have gotten most of the Henry Co Lists quarries. Also have gotten the Test e-mails. Nina Williams WA State
Is this cemetery available to all or is it on private property? In other words, if I drive there from Paducah, will I be able to get into it? Robert Worden

THere are some directions to the Frizzell Cemetery, which is located in Marshall County: From the intersection of I-24 at mile marker 25 and the Purchase Parkway, just east of Paducah, Kentucky, turn south on the Purchase Parkway. Drive south on the Purchase Parkway for 4.5 miles to the intersection with US 68, which is exit 47. Exit onto US 68, and turn left (southwest) 1/4 mile to the intersection of US 641. There is a traffic light at this intersection. Turn left, heading northeast, on US 641, and drive 1.8 miles to the intersection of Palma-Birmingham Road, which is State Road 1422. Turn right on SR 1422. It will start heading southeast, then turn due east, and then wiggle north. Drive for 3.75 miles, until you reach Timmons Road, which will come in from the left (north). SR 1422 will then be called Bethel Church Road. This intersection is just as SR 1422 turns heading east. If you reach Thorn, Taylor or Brooks roads, you have gone too far. Turn left (north) on Timmons Road, which will wiggle north by north west. Drive for 1/3 miles, where you will find a fork. Take the left fork. Drive for only 0.1 miles, and there will be a second fork. Take the right fork. Drive for 0.4 miles, wiggling north. The Frizzell Cemetery is located about 300 feet north of the end of the road. If you have GPS, it is located at 36.96 North Latitude and 88.27 West Longitude. .I hope that this helps. My friends - A little more housekeeping today. The AOL situation(which has been going on for about two weeks)in which RootsWeb messages were not being delivered by AOL is gradually being remedied. RootsWeb had over 100,000 messages in queue, awaiting AOL's acceptance of some new IP addresses. That appears to have now been accomplished and RootsWeb is slowly releasing the huge queue of messages for delivery. This problem did not apply to every server which RootsWeb operates(I believe there at least 5 different machines), but only to those which had their IP addresses changed. That is why AOL subscribers might be receiving RootsWeb list mail for 3 lists to which they subscribe, but perhaps not to four others, because the four were served by the relocated machine which had new IP addresses. Hopefully, that is just about to be finally straightened out. I mention this here only as informational material, and not as an invitation for discussion of the topic. Those subscribers who live in the JP region may be aware that the Lassiter #1 Cemetery was vandalized recently. It is unfortunate that some folks have nothing better to do than engage in this sort of activity, rather than use the energy in more positive ways. Our friend Jody Lassiter has supplied the following link for further information on this incident: http://www.wpsdtv.com/articles/stories/public/200602/01/0hhL_local_news.html In other news of general interest, there are a couple of states in the east which are attempting to pass legislation to severely restrict access to public records. New Jersey is one of the states involved. The state genealogical society there is rallying to oppose the legislation, and it is expected that they will have some success in their endeavor. This has been a continuing problem in various parts of the country since 9/11, even though it is a well known fact that identity theft, which seems to be the primary concern, is almost never accomplished through genealogical records, but through other areas. It is also a fact that legislators, unless they are historians or genealogists themselves, seem to have no conception of the havoc such proposals could create. Most states have had laws in place for many years that restrict to some degree the ability to access certain types of records(except by family or their duly appointed representative), but such restrictions have been for reasonable periods of time(such as 30-50 years). The new legislation, in some places, has tried to increase these time frames to as much as 125 years Fortunately, none of those radical proposals have been adopted. Kentucky has so far been spared these more extreme proposals and we can hope that such will continue to be the case. I hope to begin posting the short histories of the JP Masonic lodges shortly. -B =========================================================================
As most of you probably already know, the Dept of Veterans Affairs has a website (National Cemetery Administration) for obtaining information on military gravestones, veterans benefits, etc and including a database of burials in the national cemeteries (http://www.cem.va.gov/). Recently while trying to locate some burials in the database, I used my maiden name to see if the any were buried in a national cemetery. To my surprise I found my father listed although he is in a private church cemetery. His burial location is listed incorrectly and I then proceeded to write them to give the correct info so that his entry could be corrected. I received a reply within a few days indicating that they were in the process of adding the burials of those veterans for which the grave has a military gravestone/marker. They are aware that there will be some errors but will probably not correct the data until all the burials are in the database which could be several months. It was my impression that they are starting with the requests currently being received and then going back in time starting with 2005 until the project is complete. I know there are numerous other military burials in the cemetery where my father is buried which are not yet in the database. Several of these burials occurred from the early 1990's to 2004. If you happen to find the burial of a family member and the info has some incorrect data, please be sure to use the contact form at the website. You may also want to wait a bit to give them time to get the remaining burials listed. It was also indicated that they may not have some burials with a military gravestone/marker in their files. I don't know what their procedure will be for accepting info on these burials, but it will probably be better if you can send them a photo of the actual military gravestone/marker to show that the person is indeed a veteran as well as having the grave marked as such so that they can add the info to their records. For some of the older burials for which the records were destroy in the mid-1960's fire at the reccords center in Overland MO, this may be one way to get a file for the veteran for future purposes. So check the database periodically and give the NCA time to get the database updated as they prefer. This is one service which all of us appreciate and words can never tell any veteran how much they are appreciated when it comes to defending their country and its citizens. I have been receiving my mail from Rootsweb all along on AOL. Do you have the list in your address book? I think your problem may be the way you have AOL setup. Georgia
Thanks for the reply, Mary. I was looking at a map provided by epodunk. If you zoom out (--) about 4 or 5 times, it shows US 45 and I-24 intersecting. http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/genInfo.php?locIndex=106013 I guess that's an erroneous effect by zooming out, maybe? Nevertheless, epodunk does show the cemetery as being in Marshall County. Sincerely, Terry Winchester Mary J Cunningham <cunninghammj@earthlink.net> wrote: Terry, US 45 doesn't go to Benton Ky. Has anyone ever done a transcription of, or know anything about, Frizzell Cemetery in Marshall County? I'm trying to find a burial (or other family info) for a John Frizzell, b abt. 1839 in KY (I'm assuming Marshall County), and thought this might be a good clue . His last known wife was Emily (Winchester) Frizzell. According to a Google map, the cemetery is near (just east of) the intersection of I-24 and US 45, north of Benton. Thanks for any help, Terry Winchester Evansville, IN --------------------------------- What are the most popular cars? Find out at Yahoo! Autos

Dear Friends, I volunteer in the Genealogy Room at Brandon, Rankin County, Mississippi, public library and several days ago a retired couple came in to ask where they could purchase a copy of the Rankin County History book. They are natives of Rankin County who were living on the Mississippi Coast and now are on their way to Paducah, Kentucky. Their home and possessions were destroyed by Katrina and they wanted "something of home" to take with them to their new home. Perhaps you will make some new friends soon up there in the Jackson Purchase area, enjoy them. Joan
Hello Everyone, While out today hitting the antique stores i found a interesting stack of old papers that the Ballard County Historical Society really needs ..hint hint.. They are very old Weather Charts and records recorded by E.W.Horr of Blandville. They are amazing to read and look at. He has everything from the temp to rain fall from 1871-1906. They are located at ACCI (Antique,Cards,Collectibles Inc.) at 2nd & Broadway in Paducah. The owner Ray said he'd really like to get them back to the County so i thought i'd pass this along. My friends - In the past six years, I have occasionally posted obituaries and death notices from *The Bible Advocate*, which was primarily published in St.Louis, but had its beginnings in Henry County, TN. They printed notices of deaths in KY, when they received them from their subscribers. These are primary death notices, and not obituaries, but there is often some family information given. Although we generally restrict postings to this List to the 8 counties of the JP region, I am going to post today all of the pertinent deaths from that publication in the 1843 to 1849 time frame, since I recognize many of the surnames from notices for counties outside the JP as being the same as family surnames within the JP region. A few of these are for MO deaths, but the person who died was born or lived in KY prior to removing to MO. Some of these notices are rather lengthy, some are not. What I will show below is the name of the deceased, where and when the death occurred, and perhaps some other information which might help identify the individual more easily. If you see a family member shown below, and would like to have the entire notice, send a message to me by private e-mail and I will provide the text of the complete notice. On another note, our good friend Greg Miller pointed out to me that Capt. J.N.Bolen was a publisher, along with a man named Sinclair, of the Murray Gazette in the year 1875, at the time the paper folded. I omitted that in my newspaper posting earlier this week. -B +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Obituaries & Death Notices - *The Bible Advocate* Rose, Elizabeth, age 77, Floyd's Fork, KY, wife of John Rose, Revolutionary War soldier Died 22 Sept 1848 Tribble, Dudley, age 29, Platt Co., MO., grandson of Andrew Tribble of western KY.
