    2. Joe D. Brown
    3. Bill, I haven't been a real active (vocal) member of the group until now but count me in in 2000. I just had a wonderful 2 week trip through Ballard, Carlisle, Hickman, Christian Cos., KY and then on to North Carolina to Chatham and Orange Co. I had the wonderful experience of meeting Betty McCorkle and going to the Christian Co. KY research room. Betty took me in and showed me where all my Morgan line lived in Christian Co.KY and we exchanged tons of information. While at the research room I discovered that my Moses Greers father was not Henry Greer but Moses Greer (Moss Greer) of Caldwell Co., KY I also found a lot of information on my Beards, Dowdys and Taylors of Carlisle, Hickman and Fulton Co., KY I will share this information with the group in the next few weeks. In the mean time anyone who would want to view my genealogy can do so at http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyunion/Genealogies/Janet_Morgan_Brown/surnames.html Thanks, Janet Morgan Brown

    1. [KYJacksonPurchase-L] Marshall County Vital Statistics Records - 1852-1859 - Births - Part 17
    2. Bill Utterback
    3. My friends - Today, we will move back up to Marshall County and continue our review of the Vital Statistics birth records for the period 1852-1859. We had, in previous postings, worked our way up to the year 1855, and we will continue with that year today. If you see a name for which you would like the full dataset for that birth(which normally includes the date of birth, the sex of the child, when not obvious and the name of the father and maiden name of the mother), let me know and I will get that information off to you. Unfortunately, we are dealing with almost all initials for the child, and the parents, in this segment, but we do, at least, know the sex of the child, which helps a bit. I have given the complete information below on some of the most popular surname requests that I receive. As always, you assistance in not resending this entire message back to me with your request is greatly appreciated. Tomorrow, we will move back over into the western counties of the JP. -B ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Marshall County - Vital Statistics Records - Births - 1852-1859 - Part 17 (M)=Male (F)= Female Myers, L.A. 1. [KYJacksonPurchase-L] JP Homecoming Update
    2. Bill Utterback
    3. My friends - I am going to send this as a separate message, so that you will not have to wade through a data posting to find it. Many thanks to those of you who have added your names to the list of those who could very likely attend a JP "homecoming" event in 2000. The list now numbers 31, and is continuing to go up. So we may get enough interested folks to make it workable. I'll continue to issue updates as more responses come in. If we reach the necessary minimum number, we can then begin discussing dates, activities, etc. -B ============================================================

    1. [KYJacksonPurchase-L] JP Homecoming
    2. Bill Utterback
    3. My friends - On the JP List list night, I mentioned that I was throwing open the floor for discussion of a possible JP Homecoming gathering sometime in 2000. I had asked that those who had an interest in attending such an event, if it could be arranged, to let me know, so that long range planning could be started, if it appeared that enough could attend to make it worthwhile. Just as a brief update, I have heard from 8 of our subscribers who have expressed an interest in such a gathering, with about 16 potential attendees from the families of those 8 subscribers. Suggestions have been made about subjects for seminars, field trips, and perhaps a banquet. In order for this to be feasible, I think we will need to have a minimum of 75 people express an interest in attending this event. I had said last night that we ought to have about 20% of our list subscribers, and 75 is only about 15%, but I think it could be done with that number or more. If others of you are interested in this potential gathering, do let me know, so I can give more thought to it and ask for more input in various areas. If it is not workable, we'll just move on with our on-line research. The Weakley County, TN List(one of our sister lists) subscribers are planning a gathering around the first of September of next year. It might be possible to have these two gatherings back-to back, but that is only a thought. I'll be back later with today's data posting. -B ============================================================

    3. I'm trying to pin-point the Hicks Cemetery, located near Clear Springs. If anyone knows exactly where it is located, I'd like to hear from them. Also, if you have an interest in your ancestors living in and around Clear Springs, I'd recommend you read "Clear Springs" by Bobbie Ann Mason. Surnames: Mason, Lee, Hicks, Arnett -- Bobby E. 2. Do any of you old timers remember anything about a baseball team in Murray, Calloway Co. KY owned and operated by Bonnie Garrison? The time period was probably the 1940's into the 1950's. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated, such as the name of the team, where they played etc. Thanks friends, Daryl.

    2. Jennifer Pursell
    3. Somebody's having a party and didn't invite me????? BTW, the Weakley Co list is having a reunion next Sept. Think what could happen if you piggybacked with them. Our ancestors roamed back and forth across the border - why can't we? I need to ask a BIG favor of someone. My husband's gr. gr. grandmother Mary Jane BRISCOE PURSELL is buried in the Palestine Church cemetery in Fulton Co. Sometime in the next few weeks, if someone is in the neighborhood could they transcribe what is on her headstone and e-mail it to me. She is a brickwall and a pain in the ----. Maybe her headstone will give me a clue. I'm sorry but I have no idea where she is buried just the name of the cemetery. Her husband is buried someplace in Martin, Weakley Co TN. Thanks to anyone who can help, Jennifer

If our subscribers using apex.net receive this message, and any of you did not receive the data post for tonight, please contact me privately and I will forward it to you. It was another installment in the 1830 Calloway County Census series. -B ============================================================
