    1. [KYJacksonPurchase-L] Apex Problems
    2. Bill Utterback
    3. My friends - I have just received a message from the Apex folks who tell me that I am slandering their organization with my prior comments about their service. I do not agree with that assessment, but I do want to offer an apology to them, if they feel that such is the case. I have moved this entire matter over into the hands of RootsWeb and they will handle it from this point forward. I'll be back later today with a data posting. -B ============================================================

    1. [KYJacksonPurchase-L] Apex.net Problems & No Data Post Tonight
    2. Bill Utterback
    3. My friends - Due to the fact that I have been away from the computer all day, plus the very large response to yesterday's Graves County Death records posting, there will be no data post today. We'll resume tomorrow. I do plan to try to get all requests answered this evening. In addition, I want to bring those of you who are on apex.net up to date on our problems with that group. I have earlier mentioned here about the fact that there was a massive apex.net failure several weeks ago - some 43 of our List subscribers did not receive a message or messages that were sent out over a several day period. While, with the exception of one subscriber, who is, unfortunately, at the top of the apex.net bounce list, and who keeps getting unsubbed from this List due to exceeding the bounce threshold number(and I keep manually resubbing that address), the other apex.net subscribers have been receiving their mail properly, as far as I can tell. However, if you use apex and you receive an unsub notice out of the blue, please let me know. I've had to turn this over to the RootsWeb gurus, as it appears that these 43 addresses are stuck in some type of continuous loop. Apex - of course - says it is RootsWeb's fault and is their problem. I do not think that is accurate, but we will let RootsWeb and apex put their heads together to get this resolved. Until tomorrow...... -B ============================================================

    3. Tonight I was at a FHC and found a microfiche which has family bibles from Obion Co. TN and Fulton Co. KY by the Daughters of the American Colonists. BROWDER, Augustine BROWDER, G.L. McCONNELL, Robert Y. McMURRY, Charles McMURRY, M.P. SHUCK, W.A. If any of these folks look familiar let me know and I will try to check out information for you. If you have a surname ONLY match, please do not ask for a look up to see if your name is in the bible unless you are pretty sure that there is a relationship to the person listed above. I will try to get them done as soon as possible but school starts next week and that will put a crimp in my genealogy research. Jennifer Pursell

    1. [KYJacksonPurchase-L] Graves County Vital Statistics Records - 1852-1859 - Deaths - Part 11
    2. Bill Utterback
    3. My friends - Today, we are going to return to our review of the Vital Statistics death records for Graves County. In prior installments, we had worked our way up to the year 1857, and we will continue with that year in this post. I should say at the outset that the original books for 1857, and especially 1858, are in very poor condition - in some cases almost unreadable, even at the KY Archives, looking at the originals themselves, so use this information with caution - given the amount of errors which we have come to expect in these records, we are always prepared for things that do not match other records we may have, but when the originals are in such poor condition, this enhances the possibility of transcription errors. If you see a name which interests you, and you would like the complete dataset on that person(which usually includes the date of death, the age, whether male or female, if not obvious, whether single or married if an adult, where born, where died, cause of death and name[s] of parent[s]), let me know and I will get the information to you. We are once again dealing with initials in most cases, rather than names, which is a further hindrance, but such are the records. As always, your help in not resending this entire message back to me with your request is greatly appreciated. I will be out of town all day tomorrow, so responses may be delayed somewhat. -B +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Graves County - Vital Statistics Records - Deaths - 1852-1859 - Part 11 (Age and sex given after name) Whites, M.L., 5 F McNeill, Zella, F Gillam, M., 39 F Yahr, C.F., 5 mos, M (born Germany) Cope, J.R., 5 mos, M Goodwin, Jesse, 70 Saxon, Joshua, 18 Turnbow, T.N., 6 M Overby, R.N., 7 M Webb, S.N.E., 2 F Proffet, ----- 5 mos M Crawford, T.W., 37 M Edwards, M.E.J., 5 weeks F West, P.A., 2 F Lusk, M.M., 1 F Green, J.L., 5 days M Usrey, R.D., 61 M Wheeler, Mary, 46 F Kesterson, J.H., 2 weeks M Barton, Frances, 30 F Wilson, T.T., 1 M Reeves, M.A., 6 mos F Reeves, M., 5 mos F Morris, James B[uchanan], 1 Chambers, John, 44 Chambers, A., 21 M Chambers, William, 38 Chambers, M.A., 19 F Chambers, N.J., 15 F Murdock, Amanda, 35 ~to be continued~ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    1. [KYJacksonPurchase-L] Miscellaneous Files - Calloway County - Parker Cemetery #1
    2. Bill Utterback
    3. My friends - I will return later with today's data post, but I wanted to stop by and let you know that since there appears to be a good deal of interest in the Parker surname in Calloway County, I have gone into my miscellaneous files on floppies and found another of the Parker cemeteries in Calloway County. I have converted it and it is now ready. The surnames in this cemetery include Buchanan, Cook, Coleman, Darnell, Daubert, Elkins, Edwards, Lovins, Martin, Miller, Self, Walker, Wrye and, of course, Parker. There are 66 known burials in this cemetery, with the earliest birth date shown for Garland Lee Coleman, born 1799, died 1864. It would appear that this man was also the earliest known burial in this cemetery. If you would like a copy of this file, ask for Parker Cemetery # 1, and I'll get it to you by way of a plain text attachment to an e-mail message, unless you request that it be sent by straight e-mail. -B ============================================================

    3. Hi Everyone, I just found a marriage for Absalom FRANKLIN that gives his wife Susan's maiden name. It was MORROW. Absalom FRANKLIN and Susan MORROW were married in Hickman County on 1 August 1846. I just met Joyce Champion online who has a copy of a will for John MORROW dated 1859 and she said that he had a daughter named Susan, who was married to a FRANKLIN and that John's wife's name was Jane. I was wondering, is there anyone on the list working on MORROWs? Thanks! Michele Chavez mchavez@ca-connection.com Palmdale, California

    1. [KYJacksonPurchase-L] Marshall County - Early Marriage Records - Part 8
    2. Bill Utterback
    3. My friends - Today, we are returning to our review of the early marriage records for Marshall County. We have, in prior posts, worked our way up to 1851, and we will continue with that year in this post. If you see a marriage of interest to you, and you would like the complete data for the marriage(which usually includes the date of marriage, who performed the ceremony, the name of the surety, name(s) of witness(es), and consents, if necessary), let me know and I will forward that information to you. *Please* do not resend this entire message back to me with your request. Your help in that area is greatly appreciated. Just a brief note about the JP Homecoming event. As you know, I have created a separate mail group for those interested in attending the event. Two messages have gone out to those on that list. If you have not received these messages, and you are interested in attending the JP Homecoming next year, please be sure to let me know so that I can add your name to the other list. We have had 5 new subscribers join the List over the past few days, and I want to take a moment to welcome them and invite them to post their genealogical research needs in the 8 counties of the Jackson purchase region here to the List. From the reports I get, we have seen some phenomenal connections made between subscribers researching the same lines, with the happy result that everyone benefits. The JP Images web site is available for your perusal(the URL was in your Welcome Message), and the searchable JP List Archives are also available for your use here: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=KYJacksonPurchase-L Information on land grants which are available in the JP region(from our continuing series on that subject) can be found here: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygraves/JPGrants.htm Again, welcome. -B +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Early Marshall County Marriages - Part 8 Ratcliffe, James E.
