    1. [KYJP-L] Calloway County - 1830 Census - Heads of Households - Part 12 (Conclusion)
    2. Bill Utterback
    3. My friends - Today, we will resume data posts by completing our review of the 1830 census of Calloway County. We had almost finished this series at the time of the last post some time ago, and we'll wrap it up in this communication. For those of you who may be wondering what happened to the Skills Puzzler which I promised over the weekend - it never did leave my keyboard. I had it ready, but my ISP was still tweaking their new mail server over the weekend, especially on Sunday, and trying to get mail out was difficult. I decided to wait until Friday of this week to post another SP. So look for it then. If you see a name in the list below on which you would like the complete age groups enumeration, please let me know and I will forward that data on to you. As always, your help in *not* resending this entire message back to me with your request is greatly appreciated. Our JP Homecoming 2000 Planning Committee will be meeting via chat again on Wednesday evening. Things are moving along nicely, and it looks, even at this early stage, as though it will be a good gathering. -B ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Calloway County - 1830 Census - Heads of Households - Part 12 (Conclusion) Weatherspoon, Wm Steeley, John Edmunds, James Taylor, Edmund Weatherspoon, James Bennett, Asa Brush, Andrew Garret, Thomas Malone, Perry Bridges, Wm Wade, Seth Allen, John Farris, John Sanders, Jacob Hood, Washington Gore,James Pace, Wm Allcock, Harris Smith, Absalum Mills, Jesse Hiett, Geo Draffin, Wm Smith, Wm A. 3. Hi Bill, As I mentioned in my last post, I looked through 3 marriage microfilms in Hickman County yesterday. I also looked through 3 will and estate books, but didn't take extensive notes in those. I'll need to go back to them. Anyway, here are some of the VINSON/VINCENT marriages: 1. Pleasant VINCENT (widower) m. Sarah E. SPICER 18 Sep 1866 at home of Ferril Spicer, wit: William VAUGHAN and Berry DAVIS. 2. Wm. B. BONE m. Martha Ellen VINSON 11 Sep 1867 by F.A. Bone. wit: Wm NCHOLAS, Thomas NICHOLAS. 3. William BONE m. Eliza Orleans VINSON 19 Aug 1865 wit: James B. VINSON, C.C. BONE. 4. John VINCENT m. C.H. RICHARDSON 18 Mar 1855. 5. Pleasant M. VINCENT m. Sarah Jane HALE 19 Oct 1852 (presumably the 1st wife of #1 above). 6. George POOL m. Catherine VINCENT 13 Aug 1846 by F.A. Bone. 7. James B. VINCENT m. Sarah POOL 6 Dec 1848. 8. George W. VINCENT m. Elizabeth Frances WEATHERLY 28 Dec 1848. There is also, of course, the VINSON/VINCENT I'm looking for connections for: Elizabeth Caroline VINCENT m. Green H.W. NICHOLAS 24 Nov 1839. I'm wondering (after glancing through estate and will microfilms last night) if Elizabeth might be the daughter of John VINCENT, whose wife was named Caroline??? Which EVANS and BONEs are you looking for? I've got a ton of BONEs and many EVANS. Michele Chavez Palmdale, California

    1. [KYJP-L] Murray Colledge Class of 1946- Part 5
    2. Merilee Blaine
    3. Dear Fellow Jackson Purchase Researchers, This is 'part 5' of the "Class of 1946" reunion list- found among my mothers papers. The list is not dated and it does not indicate which reunion. However I discovered that both my siblings and I used the back of it to write some notes. So...useing the scribbles as a guide, I estimate the list to be generated for a 1966 20 year reunion. The firth set of surnames are: JORDAN, BEARD, KING, OSBORNE, KOLB, WIRTALA, LASSITER, LIGON, HARDY, MARTIN, MAYNARD, HOLT, MEAHL, MILLER, MOODY, PARIDY, MORGAN, MORRIS, MCCORD, LONGGREAR, MCELRATH, COX, NANNEY, PRINCE, PRYOR, RADFORD, SHAW HAYDEN, EDRINGTON, STEVENS, UNDERWOOD, WALKER, WEST, WILLIAMS, SPENCER, MCCLELLAN, WORKMAN, WILLIAMS, SPARKS The value as I see the list is in locating siblings of ancestors, especially the female line, because it lists the full maiden name, the married name, and the "present" address. There are 80 persons listed. Of the names, thirty six persons were living outside Kentucky, and four were listed as deceased. The surnames listed in the post may be the students original surname, or if female, a married surname. If you see a surname that interests you, please e-mail me personally and I will provide you both original surname, and when applicable, the married name. (In the interest of privacy for those listed, I will not provide the address.) Happy hunting! Merilee Blaine mlblaine@earthlink.net

    1. [KYJP-L] Fisk twins
    2. Barbara Lawson
    3. I have been looking for my gr-grandfather's twin brother. I am not certain of his name due to terrible writing on the censuses. John Wesley Fisk was my gr-grandfather. He married Laura Candis Bazzell. His father was John Fisk and his mother was Lourenia Bridges. I believe his twin's name is Byron Walker Fisk, but that would only be a guess. I have nothing to tell me his name, I don't know if he died at a young age or on old age. I found them as 5 yr olds on the 1860 census and as 15 yr olds on the 1870 census (both Graves Co., KY). They were born December 15, 1854. The other siblings to the twins were: Melissa Jane, James, Alfred, and Sarah. I know nothing about the siblings either. John Wesley moved to Arkansas and died there. His body was shipped back to KY to be buried. My mother and her sister are the only living grandchildren. They say they never heard the twin's name. Some of the Bible records spell the last name with an "e" at the end. My grandmother used both spellings. I would like to know what happened to this family (inc. where they're buried) and I would love to communicate with some of their descendants. Any help would be more than greatly appreciated. 1. [KYJP-L] gettin' hitched..or not...in Kentucky
    2. Merilee Blaine
    3. A while back there was a discussion about why so many couples from Kentucky went to Tennesee to get married. I just spoke to a Calloway County relative who gave me a reason that I don't recall reading in the previous list. She said Calloway Couples went to (Charleston) Missouri to get married because in Kentucky you had to have a blood test and you had to wait too long for the results. She said you didn't need a blood test in Missouri. I don't know if the same applied to Tennesee. She would have married in the 1930-40's.

    3. My friends - I have been delayed in returning home today and will be staying the night where I am and returning home in the morning. I have my laptop with me, and I am going to try to get this message through. My ISP's new mail machine has crashed, or had some other break-in problems, as I understand it, so I am unsure if I can get this out to you or not. I'll be back tomorrow with responses to those who asked for Graves County data, and I hope to get a new Skills Puzzler out tomorrow as well.
