Would you please send me information on G.W. Galloway and Elender Jackson Thank you
Just thought you wanted to know. 1930 census will be released in 2002 I think, just as the 1920 was released in 1992. They figure 72 years is the average life span of a person. After that length of time, most things that might have been embarrassing to people no longer matter. Rob
Donna, Your mention of South Ballard Church made me remember the notation in Grandaddy Sullivan's notes about him joining the South Ballard Baptist Church in 1895. Since Carlile Co. came into existence the next year, I wonder if that's the same church & what it's location is today? Do you know if it's listed in one of the Ballard Co. cemetery books? Martha

Sue and Lou: The census reports are issued 72 years after the census is taken. The 1930 census will be made public in 2002. It was assumed that the average life span was 72 years and that number was choosen so that the census would not be publishe during an individual's life tim. Jerry
The 1920 census have already been released. In 2003 they will release the 1930 census. Debbie
There is no 1940-50 census available to public usage. Something about privacy laws, I was told the census and such had to be 75 years old, to be viewed by the public. I believe you have it part right. They are gearing up to release the 1930 (not 1900) census. I heard or read it would be ready in 2003 also. I guess they wait 70 years. Thanks to all who responded to my question on Carlisle County's formation. Maybe I can find some clue to my grandparents and great grandparents. Joyce
My friends - Due to a last minute change in plans, my computer time for the rest of the day will be limited. As a result, there will be no data post today. I do plan to try to respond to the requests for data that I received from yesterday's posting, however. Until tomorrow........ -B ============================================================
Hi, Joyce, according to " History of Carlisle Co., KY for the years 1820-1900", Carlisle Co. was formed from Ballard in 1886. The description was a little hazy as to which part of Ballard became Carlisle but I will quote that section and let you decide. p. 1 "Between 1842 and 1886, Ballard County was dividied by the flow of Mayfield Creek. All territory between Mayfiedl Creek on the south and the Ohio River on the north was referred to as North Ballard (there is a church in that area by the name of North Ballard Baptisit Church), and all territory between Mayfield Creek on the north and Hickman County on the south was designated as South Ballard (also during that period there was a church known as the South Ballard Churc). The area of Carlisle County contains 198 square miles." Now, the book doesn't say so but from this I am assuming that the area formerly known as South Ballard is what became Carlisle County. Does anyone know this for sure? Donna On Sun, 16 Jan 2000, Roy and Joyce Collins wrote: > Bill, > > When was Carlisle County formed from Ballard?
