My friends - The tenured subscribers to this List probably groan each time they see the Subject line with the word "Administratavia"(really, a pseudo-word, I think), because it usually means that an "incident" has occurred on the List. Such is the case on this occasion. Our tenured subscribers also may recall that I have posted a disclaimer occasionally on the List, stating that there is another individual with my same name who appears frequently on some other non-genealogical lists, and who has very strong views about the need for citizen militias and other beliefs, which he is entitled to have, but which do not represent my views, and the disclaimer was to insure that no one would think that he and I are one and the same. Tonight, a message was sent to the List, which fortunately bounced to me, due to an incorrect List address line, and it did not post to the List. The sender of this message, apparently laboring under the belief that I and the other fellow with the same name are one and the same, wrote what I can easily term a "blistering" narrative about what the sender thought was my involvement in some of the activities in which my namesake apparently participates. Aside from the fact that this message was not only entirely off-topic, inaccurate and false, it also constituted a "flame", which violates one of our basic guidelines for this List. I have a "short fuse" for flaming, and those who engage in it will be dealt with swiftly, and will be removed, in most cases, from our subscribership and not allowed to return. In this case, due to what I believe was a sincere apology for the error and the action, (after I explained that this individual was addressing the wrong party)I have "suspended" the subscriber in question for a period of 60 days, after which I will look at this again, and will consider whether to reinstate the individual as a subscriber. I regret having to report this incident to you, but, from time to time, these things happen, and, when serious enough, I will report the situation, in general terms, to the List, hopefully to prevent a similar occurrence at some future time. Now, let's get back to rooting...... -B ============================================================ ==========
My friends - As I continue my stay in Dallas, I am going to move over to Graves County and post some additional newspaper snippets from the late 1870's into the early 1880's. The list below is not a long one, due to time constraints that I face here in having adequate computer time to respond to requests for these snippets' texts. Subscribers to the lists I host can request the full text of these snippets by sending a message to me with the name for which the text is needed, and I will get that information out to you. I must again request that no more than 3 snippet texts be requested, due to the length of some of these, which adds significantly to the time element involved in responding. As always, your help in not resending this entire message back to me with your request is greatly appreciated. As I always note in the case of these newspaper snippets, it is a bit of "pot luck" insofar as what they may contain. It may be nothing more than a one-liner about someone visiting someone else, or it may be a full paragraph describing a wedding or a death. Tomorrow, we will return to the western part of the JP. -B ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++ Graves County - Late 19th Century Newspaper Snippets - Part 5 Whittemore, Charles S.| Boone, Matie D. | marriage O'Neill, William Pierce, Wm | Tibbs, Tinnie |marriage Brook, Thomas| Doran, Dora |marriage George, Frank Singleton, Willie| Dodson, Tennie |marriage Harding, John| Howard, Katie|marriage Bolton, Gillum, "...alias John Owens..." Thank you to those who answered my question Kim
Bill, A long time ago you did a posting that showed how to go by a death date ( such as if someone died in 1872 and they were 56 years 2 months 10 days) How do I get the month, day, and year of birth? Thanks for you help Kim
My friends - Greetings from Dallas, where I will be for the next couple of days, conducting some business. I am writing this on my laptop from my hotel room. There will be no data post tonight, but I did bring my resource data with me on the Calloway snippets and I will try to get those requests out before the end of the evening. Tomorrow, we will have some snippets from Graves County. BTW, if anyone still needs copies of those files that I reposted over the weekend, please hold your requests until Friday, when I return home. I'll be bale to fill those rather quickly. Until tomorrow.......... -B ============================================================ =========

Thanks so much. Now, can anyone tell me the cost of birth, death and marriage certificates in Graves and Calloway Counties, and the correct addresses to send request to? I need some of these for the D.A.R. Again, thanks, and I >>
Hello Everybody, I am sure excited to have stumbled onto you. Here is who I am looking for: A sure connection between Joseph Robert Griffith b. 1817 and his father Byrd or Bird Griffith. Joseph Robert was married to Nancy Ford, and Byrd was also married to a Nancy. Joseph possibly had a sister named Polly. This information comes mostly from my grandfather's memory, John Leroy Griffith (Roy) as given to my father Eugene Griffith. My father and I have done some verification of it through census, and marriage, and death records. But we don't live near a good genealogy library anymore. I will send the other names later. I am in North Carolina so I may be able to help some of you all with your roots here. Let me know. Mary Lee Barrow

I am seeking a divorce record occurring about 1885, probably in Calloway Co. I was told in Murray the records are in Frankfort Archives. I tried the archives link to order the records or call for data. But, the link is broken. Does anyone have suggestions or experience getting those divorce records. Blanche Nix
