I am well acquainted with this cemetery. I found it after a half day tramping through U. S. Forest Service land. The strange thing about this abandoned cemetery is a large wall made of quarried stones. The wall is 20 inchees thick and four foot high enclosing an area 11 by 42 feet. Several persons, mostly deer hunters had told me about the cemetery. I wrote about it in the February 1963 issue asking people to send me any information they had. The response was good. I got most from Carter McHaffey who had known the West family. I published the answers in the April 1963 issue. With both issues I had a copy of the best photograph I ever did. It is a picture of water flowing over a rapid in a near by creek. There was a skiff of snow on the groung. With bare trees surrounding it, it is the coldest picture I ever took. It sends shiver down your back to look at it. A Baptist Preacher borrowed my negative. He said he wanted a super large enlargement for a backdrop to the baptistry in his church. If anyone is interested in reading the articles or seeing an enlargement of the picture send me your address. Should we meet some day in a corner saloon you can buy me a small beer.
