Their children went to Gum Corner School, which later was destroyed by fire. They were Baptist. They had twelve children and Owen may have been in the Civil War. He was crippled after that time. He had been a school teacher. Some of their children were: Henry (later owned farm in Charleston, MO.), Daisy, Eva (married Wm. Ramsey), Mildred (married James Clavin), Beedie Ellen (married Wm. Michael Clavin from Cairo) and Oscar (nicknamed "Pete") who married Blanche Piper. Beedie and Oscar moved to East St. Louis, where they raised their families.
