Alpha was my grandmother, Mary Lee Hale's half-sister. Their mother was Susan Reasor, daughter of Daniel Reasor. Theirs was a Confederate family. The Reasors lost a lot via the War. When Daniel Reasor died, he left his real property to his sons...and personal property, including slaves, to his daughters. Susan married well off the first time she married, but Alpha's father died. She then married my g-grandfather James C. Hale..They had very little when they came to Owsley County. Alpha married young (and apparently often) and moved to Jackson County.
