Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5AB.2ACE/2717 Message Board Post: Here is what I have been told about Farmer Cemetery by an older family member: John Farmer was the County Clerk in Jackson County. He and his family owned a lot of land, most of which was apple orchard. When his wife, Icy died he buried her on their land. The marker at the front gates of the cemetery says, "Est. 1856", the year Icy died. I was heard that if a person can prove they are of Farmer descent, they can be buried there. There are about 150+ people buried there. The cemetery now has a chain link fence around it that was installed a few years back. I do know that there is a cemetery fund established that accepts donations for up keep and improvements to the cemetery. This is all of the information I have on Farmer. If anyone has anything different or to add please let me know! Amber
Farmer and Ledford descendants should get and read the book, GENERATIONS By John Eggleston. I found it one of the most interesting family story I have ever read although I am not a Farmer of Ledford descendany. The book is available from University Press of Kentucky. Check the internet for universitypressky.com, or something close to that.
