I think your line comes from this Jacob's older brother, Isaac Hugh who married Jane Isaacs. Per the 1850 census of Owsley County, Jacob & Elizabeth had no son old enough to be the Jacob, Jr. Gabbard (with wife Elizabeth) on the 1870 census. He was 35 in 1870, making him born c1835. In 1850, Jacob, s/o Isaac Hugh Gabbard was 16 yrs of age. So, if this is the same person, he was a nephew of my gg grandfather Jake. BTW, Isaac Hugh Gabbard's picture is on the net. Try typing Isaac Hugh Gabbard+picture at google and see if you can find it. He was much better looking than his younger brother, Jacob - lol I realize that Jacob b c1834/35 was listed as a junior and his uncle as senior on the 1870 census. (I've never copied the 1860) This was done, not because they were father/son, but to differientiate them in the neighborhood. I have run across this several times in famili! es who for whatever reason, kept the same names going, and going, and going...
