So much to learn! Godfrey Gabbard was the son of Jacob Gabbard known as "Black Jake." Jacob was married to Elizabeth Peters and they had at least 8 children (by the 1880 census of Pond Creek, Jackson, Kentucky. Godfrey was married to Luvernia Simms. (or Sims). They had 8 children, one of whom was my grandfather Jacob J. Gabbard who was married to Katie Bishop.
