From the 1860 Clay Co. Fed. Census: Dwelling 135 COLLINS, Robert, 30, b. Clay Co. - farm laborer . .Mary A., 25, b. VA Assume this is their marriage and if so, I guess they were simply living together as of the 1860: COLLINS, Robert to Mary Ann WILCOX on 9 Aug 1865, File 13 There is this other marriage but I have no way of knowing if it is the same Robert COLLINS: COLLINS, Robert to Elisa HARRIS on 17 July 1867, File 14 As of the 1850, this "could" be the family of your Robert COLLINS: Dwelling 296 COLLINS, Amos, 60, b. VA - farmer . .Mariel, 54, b. VA . .Nancy, 26, b. TN . .Elizabeth, 23, b. TN . .Robert, 22, b. KY * * * . .Benj., 17, b. KY . .Margaret, 15, b. KY Dwelling 297, there is also a Robert COLLINS, age 10 yrs in the household of John G. and Susannah COLLINS, ages 38 and 37 respectively from TN and VA. By 1870, the family appears to be the same as the 1860 family with the addition of two children: Dwelling 29 COLINS, Robert, 40 - farmer . .Mary An, 40, b. VA (appears to be same Mary from 1860) . .Ulissus G., 1 month (b. May) . .Margarette, 35 NOTE: Margarette, age 35 is most probably Robert COLLINS' sister as listed on the 1850 Clay Co. Fed. Census. As of the 1880 Clay Co., I do not see the Robert COLLINS family. Again, now Leslie Co. has been formed and Robert COLLINS shows up on their first census as of 1880 as follows: Dwelling 61-242 COLLINS, Robert, 53, head, b. KY; parents b. NC . .Mary A., 50, wife, b. KY; parents b. NC . Ulyses, 11, son, b. KY; parents b. KY . Martha, 7, dau, b. KY . James, 5, b. KY On one side of him is: Dwelling 61-241 COLLINS, Washington, 29, head, b. kY; parents b. NC . .Mary, 35, wife, b. VA; parents b. TN On the other side is: Dwelling 61-243 COLLINS, Amos, 40, head, b. kY; parents b. KY . .Pollie, 35, wife, b. KY; parents b. KY . .William, 7, son, b. KY . .Calvin, 6, son, b. KY . .Armilda, 4, dau, b. KY . .Mary, 2, dau, b. KY . Marion, 5 mn's as of Jan, son, b. KY . Nelson, 11, naphew, b. KY SCALF, James, 19, laborer, b. KY . .Dillion, 16, laborer As of the 1900 Leslie Co., this would appear to be Ulysses and James, brothers and sons of Robert and Mary Ann COLLINS: Dwelling 79 - Hyden COLLINS, James, 24, head, b. Apr 1876, mar. 5 yrs, b. KY; parents b. KY . .Lizzie, 23, wife, b. Sep 1877, mar. 5 yrs, 4 born; l living, b. KY; parents b. KY . .Prudy, 2, dau, b. May 1898, b. KY Dwelling 80 COLLINS, Ulis, 32, head, b. Apr 1868, mar. 8 yrs, b. kY parents b. KY . .Bitha, wife, b. Apr 1868, mar. 8 yrs, 4 born; 3 living, b. KY . .Martha J., 5, dau, b. Apr 1895, b. KY . .Lousinda, 3, dau, b. Feb. 1897, b. KY NOTE: Have no idea why it states she has had 4 children with 3 living and only 2 listed. I don't know anything about Mary Ann PARSONS. With both of these women having the very same given names, there is really no way to tell from the census when one exited and one came aboard. The ages continue on about the same. Is it possible that they are the very same person and that a mistake could have occurred on the death certificate. Those things did happen. Of course, you stated there was a divorce so I assume you have obtained information on that to know it was a certainty. If not, they may well be the same person. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA
