Surnames: Williams/Cates Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5AB.2ACE/3140 Message Board Post: I found a Ky. Land Grant for George W. Williams at age 30, possibly my gr. grandfather who was living in Jackson County at that age. The date surveyed was 10-13-1851, 30 acres, watercourse-Brimstone Creek, Jackson County. Would anyone know where what area this is in? Also, will post info I have, thanks to a gen friend--George is my brick wall! (Have added anything else I have) From a 1900 Jackson Co. Census: George Williams b. Jul 1836 GER Married 7 years Suzie (Cates/Johnson) 35 5 children born/4 living Eliza 10 (believe this is Eliza (Lizzie Johnson)from 1st m. Velma 5, my grandmother Guy 4 Ammon 12 (was shot in 1930) (I believe the child who didn't live was named Mason.) A 1910 Madison county census shows Suzie a widow at 44, with Velma 15 and Ammon 12 ( I know she remarried to a Blunce Powell, believe Madison county.) Anything anyone could tell me would surely be appreciated. Thanks, Barb
