Dear Marlene; The Isaacs and Baileys both seemed to have a penchant for unusual names & mixing them up. Turns out my grand-mother's given name at birth was "CLARista", but that she went by "Clista" the rest of her life. She was a child of John B & Catherine (Gabbard) Isaacs, making her a sister to W Shelley Isaacs. I don't know how the William Isaacs next door to Shelley is connected, if at all, but I assume "Carlista" is just an ironically similar name to my gmother's. I accidentally used that variation in some of my postings, so maybe I saw it in another message? I have verified that Clista was married to my grandfather, Elbert F Bailey, and you are correct that they were younger than Wm & Carlista (they seem to just be throwing us a curve). Since I'm pretty sure the W "Shelly" you mentioned is the same W "ShellEy" that I discovered, I would say that he very likely was your father-in-law's brother-in-law. Although your husband and I would not seem to be directly related, I'm sure some of our ancestors went to the same family reunions, attended same school together, etc..It would also seem that the children of Linda & Great Uncle Shelley, and all their children's descendants, WOULD be my exponential/removed cousins, proving once again that this is a very small world! I will add Linda into my tree (slowly becoming more of a "forest"!), as tentative spouse to W Shelley, and I sure appreciate the help! I notice I'm developing quite a habit of employing restrictive adjectives and adverbs in this genealogy game, ha ha! Linda's kids should probably try to make sure this W Shelly was John B & Catherine (Gabbard) Isaacs' son; then the connection would be certain. When I trace Clarista's line back thru John B Isaacs' line, it sounds like I'll run into John & Liza, and it's always helpful to have an advance checkpoint! Happy searching, Ken Bailey ps-I am sending this note to the Jackson County site as well, just in case other Isaacs researchers would benefit from our chatter. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
