According to his death certificate and newspaper accounts, Senator William H Clark was murdered by William Pearson on November 6, 1921 in or near McKee. William Pearson was charged with the murder but I can not find any trial records or information regarding the outcome of the trial. The Jackson County Circuit Court Clerk was no help. There are at least three versions of where and how the murdered occurred. All are similar but with some differences. I have heard that Pearson had been previously sentenced to prison by Clark who was also a circuit judge. I have also heard, when Pearson was released from prison after murdering Clark, he murdered his girlfriend and then committed suicide. The story goes that Pearson's girlfriend had taken up with another man while Pearson was in prison which is why Pearson killed her. None of this has been verified and results from recent conversation with old-timers in McKee. I would appreciate any information or leads that might help me resolve the actual occurrence and determine the outcome of the trial. Can anyone on this list provide any verification or additional information? Don Clark Greatgrandson of William Clark
