" Shorty " Moore, 73, of 256 Hill St.,former sheriff`s deputy, died at his home Tuesday evening. He had been in failing health several months. Mr. Moore was born in Jackson County, Kentucky on October 18, 1904, the son of Elhannon and Florence Moore. He was a special deputy since the time of his retirementas a deputy in 1973. He married Alberta Burns in 1928 and she preceded him in death in 1976. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Oliver ( Naoma ) Hook of Xenia ; five grandchildren, David, Diana, Deborah, Dennis and Don Hook ; two brothers, Don of New Jasper and Bruce Moore of Bellbrook ; seven sisters, Mrs. Martha Carback and Mrs. Hallie Morris of Bellbrook, Mrs. Ruth Trego of Xenia, Mrs. Anna Mae Eversole and Mrs. Elizabeth Long of Dayton, Mrs. Mary Robinette of California and Mrs. Bess Case of Indiana and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at McColaugh Funer! al Home, 826 N. Detroit St.by the Rev. Edmond Curtis of Beavercreek. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Posted in the Xenia Daily Gazette with the date of May 3, 1978 written on it.
