From "The Jackson County Sun", Thursday, August 12, 1971 Willie J Spence, 83, died in Veterans hospital, Lexington, Ky., at 5:30 August 3, 1971, of a heart attack. Born in Owsley County March 13, 1887; a son of James and Sarah Mays Spence. Married November 28, 1929, to Emily Cook who survives. Other survivors; tow daughters, Elaine Spence, Lexington, Ky., Lois Fry, Fort Wayne, Ind.; one son, Jack Spence, Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Mollie Bowman, Lebanon, Ohio; one brother Sherman Spence, Tyner, Ky.; four grandchildren. Funeral services 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 5 , at Justice and Lakes Funeral Chapel by Rev. Frank Wilson. Interment in Flannery Cemetery, Mummie, Ky. Justice and Lakes Funeral Home in Charge of arrangements.
