John had a brother, Jim, and his wife Nannie are buried in the Hade Rose Cemetery in Red Lick, KY. This info is from page 611 of The Rogers Family by Ellen and Diane Rogers. Now on your James Carpenter. We need more information ... I have lots of them in my database. Do you have his date of birth and date and place of death? Even approximate time periods would help. The Carpenters fathered lots of bastards and married and divorced like crazy in the 1800's. They were quite prolific and always in trouble for something ... so very interesting to research ... And and the same thing on your Jarvis Van Winkle? What date did he die and where? good luck, Donny Perry

    1. Re: [KYJACKSO] Jacob Lakes: Who are his parents? second message
    2. In looking over the info more I am sure that Jacob Lakes was enumerated twice on 1870 and 1880. Especially if you look at the records of Thomas Jerry Lakes. The marriage record of Thomas J Lakes in 1891 lists his name as Thomas J Lakes. Thomas J Lakes married Rachael Cunnagim [sic] on the 25 Nov 1891 in Jackson County, Kentucky. The surety for the marriage was Jacob Lakes. Now if we look at the obit of Jerry Lakes we find that Jerry Lakes is one and the same as Thomas J Lakes. Jerry Lakes Jerry Lakes died at Berea College Hospital at 3:30 p.m. May 29, 1964, at the age of 91, of heart trouble. He was a native of Jackson County, the son of Jake and Lizzie Ann Johnson Lakes, born October 31, 1872. He was married first to Rachel Cunagan, and late r to Rose Gipson, both deceased. A member of the Holiness Church, he was a farmer, blacksmith and carpenter. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Georgie Bowman, Sand Gap, Ky.; Mrs. Dellia …… [last name not given], Cincinnati, Ohio; one son, Roy Lakes, Hamilton, Ohio; two sisters, Susie Mink, Livingston, Ky.; Rhoda Cromer, Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, George Lakes, Livingston, Ky.; Fred Lakes, Hamilton, Ohio; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. at Sand Gap, Ky. Interment in the Johnson Cemetery, Sand Gap, Ky. Under the direction of Justice and Lakes Funeral Home.[:CR:] We need to take a look at all the obits of Jacob Lakes children to be sure of this. thanks, Donny Perry

    1. Re: [KYJACKSO] Jacob Lakes: Who are his parents?
    2. Could you please post the additional Census information that you have on these two Jacob Lakes? I would like to try to figure this out too. I'm still not sure that they are not one and the same person. The Lakes family lived on the Rockcastle/Jackson Co. border so it would have been easy for one of them to be enumerated in Jackson and Rockcastle Co. I also find it curious the the information on the 1880 census for them is so similar. Could Jacob have again been enumerated twice and the info garbled?
