I'm doing this from memory, so I may have to change something when I get out my records later at home. My gr-grandmother was Florence Dills Cain, b. 1871, Harrison County, KY. Her father was John C. Cain born in New York, I'm thinking 1850. On one of the census records (can't remember which one right now) he states he was born in NY and his father was born in Ireland and I believe his mother was born in Pennsylvania. For some reason, I think I have looked at the name Thomas in New York census and believe it to be connected. I haven't been able to get back further than John C. Cain at this point, and don't have any relatives left that could help me out either. My email is vickie82957@yahoo.com. Let me know if you think there may be a connection. With warmest regards, Vickie Pickens

Buried in Elmira, NY. October 6, 1876. Cemetery records, state she was born in German Flats, Herkimer County. Parents, William Cain and Mary. I have copies of letters from 1850, 1860's and they refer to children of John, as cousins. Would like to find proof, William Cain, married to Margaret Bunn were here parents, or if William had a wife named Mary. Only child I see listed for them is Jacob Cain. First child of Elizabeth and Crago Corretsca was named Mary. Have other Cain's mentioned that I have not been able to put with any found so far. If anyone has any Cain's that may go with this family or any additional information I would appreciate it. I am almost positive she is the daughter of this Willliam, and granddaughter of Thomas. 3. Sarah McCammon-Forbis and William Forbis are my gggrandparents ... parents of my greatgreatgrandmother Anna Forbis (married as Forbish to George W Henson). All I have on Sarah and William Forbis i o s i they lived out their lives in Jackson Co KY (Jackson was partially formed out of Laurel C0). I show William died March 1862 Jackson Co KY and I am showing Sarah died aft 1860 Jackson Co KY. I don't know where they are buried ... sure would like to know. George W Henson and his wife Anna Forbis-Henson were living next to William and Sarah McCammon-Forbis in 1859 Jackson Co KY, before Anna and George left for Webster/Maries Co MO. George and family showed up in the 1860 Webster Co MO Census, then later in the 1870 aries Co MO Census. I am not showing a Rebecca Forbis as a daughter of William and Sarah Forbis, but they sure could have had a daughter Rebecca. Anna Forbis-Henson, married to George W Henson, named one of her daughters 'Rebecca' Henson ... maybe after ! a sister of hers? Rebecca Henson married Benjamin Franklin Reams on dec 23, 1856 Laurel Co KY. Thanks to everyone for sharing. 3. Hi Lonnie! I'd love to find school records for Letterbox too, from mid 1930's forward. Dad went to school those years and I'm not sure he remembers the school name correctly. One time he says it was just Letterbox School and then he says it was called Black Lick School. Do you have any ideas? He lived on what is now Black Lick Rd., PO used to be Parrott but is now McKee. I am well acquainted with this cemetery. I found it after a half day tramping through U. S. Forest Service land. The strange thing about this abandoned cemetery is a large wall made of quarried stones. The wall is 20 inchees thick and four foot high enclosing an area 11 by 42 feet. Several persons, mostly deer hunters had told me about the cemetery. I wrote about it in the February 1963 issue asking people to send me any information they had. The response was good. I got most from Carter McHaffey who had known the West family. I published the answers in the April 1963 issue. With both issues I had a copy of the best photograph I ever did. It is a picture of water flowing over a rapid in a near by creek. There was a skiff of snow on the groung. With bare trees surrounding it, it is the coldest picture I ever took. It sends shiver down your back to look at it. A Baptist Preacher borrowed my negative. He said he wanted a super large enlargement for a backdrop to the baptistry in his church. If anyone is interested in reading the articles or seeing an enlargement of the picture send me your address. Should we meet some day in a corner saloon you can buy me a small beer. 1. Harrison Family
    2. Hello, I need help. I am stuck out here in Arizona and it is hard for me to get back to Kentucky. I am up against a brick wall and would appreciate any help out there in Jackson County that I can get. My grandfathers sister, Deliah Harrison was born about 1890 in Jackson County to Andrew 'little Andy' Harrison and Sarah Ann Blanton. Sometime between 1900 and I would guess around 1915 some kind of legal action was taken in the court system. I I think Andrew charged a young man about not doing right with his daughter and the young man ended up going to prison at Frankfort and he ended up dying when the Kentucky River overflowed it's bank. I am thinking that was sometime prior to 1920 when the young man drowned. If anyone out there can find out anything in reference to this I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Jim West west_way@juno.com
