Bet it goes back to Retherford! My gr grandmother on my moms side was Lulabelle Grimes and she married George Wesley Hurley. They Lived in East Bernstadt, as do most all my Hurley relations today. She was later found to be a Retherford not a Grimes. Long story, but My mother had the family bible that proved the last name was Retherford not Grimes as everyone thought. Martha was the mother of my Lulabelle. Martha was never married, but had 7 children. Martha was also the young of her siblings, and was born Nov.14,1856. She had brothers Robert, William, Charles and Thomas and a sister Lucinda. Does any of this fit with your Grimes family. If so we are relatyed in more than one way. Feel free to email me direct if you wish. Would love to know more about your Baldwin line as well as your Grimes family. Judith thejcoriginal@aol.com

My mother is Nancy, Charles second to last youngest child. The Junior you spoke of, died before my mother ever was born. My grandmother was about the same age as Charles first set of kids. My grandfather, Charles died when my mother was very small and I don't think she remembers him very well. I have a photo of him. I think someone sent me a photo of his mom & dad with their kids. It was either them or Charles & his first wife. It's a nice photo.

Jamie, John Baldwin and 2nd wife Margaret Howard (married June 13,1855 Harlan, Ky.) were my gr gr grandparents via their 2nd born son- Robert E. Baldwin born in 1857 who married Eliza Jane King. They lived in London, Ky. East Bernstadt is just outside of London. Your Charles N. Baldwin (I believe) was the youngest child of John and Margaret. He was born in 1880. He had 3 wives. Emma McDowell they had 7 children , Martha Combs- they had no children and Grace (last name I have is Fullenton). This maybe spelled wrong, but they had the following children - Marie, Mable, Junior (may have been Charles Jr.), Albert, William, Flossy, David, Lillie, George, Nancy and Ann. Is this your family?? If so would love to know which is your line. Judith thejcoriginal@aol.com

I just came across it this evening when searching in Jackson Co., KY for the family of my grandmother's sister. My grandmother was Sarah Elizabeth CREECH b. 1881 who died in the 1950's in Greene Co., OH. I knew that her sister, Ida CREECH had married Irvin SMITH. What I did not know was that she must have been an "Ida Belle" CREECH, according to the wording of the Obit. In any case, the Lela Mae SMITH ANGEL whose Obit you posted for Ida CREECH SMITH's daughter. Thank you for helping me add to the information on this family. If anyone knows where Irvin SMITH d. in 1955; Ida Belle CREECH SMITH or Ida Belle's mother, Deborah Lynn SERGENT CREECH died 7-17-1946 are buried, I would like to hear from you. Deborah Lynn SERGENT CREECH is said to be buried somewhere near Parrot, Jackson Co., KY. I am simply assuming that since she was living with her dau., Ida at the end of her life and we know she was brought back from Harlan Co. after her funeral service that she must have been buried in some family plot where the SMITHS later were buried.
