    3. I sent this to the Clay County list, but I know there are many of us related to those in Jackson County, too. Please be willing to post your information! Hi list! I think it's great that everyone is willing to work together to find their ancestors. I love reading the messages on this list, even if they aren't related to me (I'm practically related to everyone in Clay County, though!) I will say that not only the queries will help all of us. I have found so much information on the www.findagrave.com site. And the WorldConnect site that is part of the rootsweb site. Today I was able to get information on a line another 3 generations, together with specifics about their careers and even that they were well-versed in music! Please post your burials on the findagrave site for those who live far away. You can put pictures (people, families, graves, etc), and even leave virtual flowers and messages. And if you can go and survey the cemeteries, I know Tim Spence would love to have those for the Clay County site (and Jackson County!) We have a very rich heritage and I hope we can all share. Surnames: Field, Fields, Callahan Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5AB.2ACE/2718 Message Board Post: Waldo Fields Found Dead Beside Berea Road Waldo Field, 48 years old, of Eglon, Jackson county, was killed by a hit and run driver about 11:30 o'clock Saturday night about five miles south of Kinston. The man was walking along the road between Kingston and Big Hill when he was fatally struck by a passing motor vehicle. Field was found lying along the side of the road by three persons, Robert Rose, Dora Callahan, and Elbert Callahan, all of Jackson county, with whom he had been with earlier in the evening. According to his companions, Field had driven with them to Richmond. When the party returned to Kinston, Field argued with the three and decided to walk to Big Hill and was fatally injured after he had walked about five miles. Rose and the Callahans drove by and asked Field to ride but Field refused. The trio then drove on to Big Hill and filled the car with gas and returned to find Field. The three men found Field dead on the side of the road. The body was brought to the Turpin Funeral Home where a coroners inquest was held Sunday morning at 10 a.m. Coroner William Jenkins of Newby, KY stated that the man met his death by means of a motor vehicle driven by a party unknown. Field's body was removed to Jackson County for burial. --- Monday Richmond Register

    3. Farmer and Ledford descendants should get and read the book, GENERATIONS By John Eggleston. I found it one of the most interesting family story I have ever read although I am not a Farmer of Ledford descendany. The book is available from University Press of Kentucky. Check the internet for universitypressky.com, or something close to that. He and his family owned a lot of land, most of which was apple orchard. When his wife, Icy died he buried her on their land. The marker at the front gates of the cemetery says, "Est. 1856", the year Icy died. I was heard that if a person can prove they are of Farmer descent, they can be buried there. There are about 150+ people buried there. The cemetery now has a chain link fence around it that was installed a few years back. I do know that there is a cemetery fund established that accepts donations for up keep and improvements to the cemetery. This is all of the information I have on Farmer.
