Rowland was my great grandfather. Rosa is buried in Sand Gap, Kentucky off of Hwy 1955 Pine Grove Ridge. Once on 1955 go past Pine Grove Headstart, there will be a road on the left. Turn onto it. It is listed as Hurst School Rd. on mail routes, but actually it is Daugherty Ridge. Once on this road you'll go out it a mile or so. You'll pass a gravel road on the left. After you go pass this road look on your left and out in the middle of a field behind a house you'll see a small fenced in cemetery. This is where Rosa is buried. She remarried and her stone says Rosa Brewer. Rosa Belle Smith was b. June 8,1879 and d. October 18,1962. She married James Daugherty December 7,1894. He was b. January 31,1861 and d. She was Laura Belle Hurley, who was the daughter of Jasper Newton Hurley "Newt", and granddaughter of Spencer Hurley and Julia Hurley. I have a photo of Jasper, his wife Matilda, Laura Belle, her husband Clay Franklin Jones and their daughter Mamie Jones. Mamie is my husband's grandmother. Newt was a country doctor and his death certificate is on file at the Jackson County Health Department. His cause of death is a cerebral hemmorage. Matilda had cancer which was on her forehead. In the picture she has a white bandage on her forehead. Newt being a doctor, was the one who treated her. It has been told to me that when Matilda died, she never stiffened from the time she died until the day she was buried. Today people wonder if maybe she had slipped into a coma and was thought to have been dead and was buried alive.

Greetings, My great-great grandfather was Dudley Cole. His father was William Franklin Cole. Does anyone know who Dudley's mother is? My records show that Dudley was born in 1866 which is around the time where W.F.'s first wife (Elizabeth Thomas) died, and W.F. married his second wife (Mary Garrett). I can't quite pin down the exact dates of Elizabeth's death and the marriage to Mary. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kerry

It is located on Indian Creek in Jackson Co. Kentucky. My grandparents, Ted and Dula Angel, their sons, Audrey, and Paul and buried there. My father Frank passed away on December 4 of 2002. He was buried in the Lakes Cemetary behind the Sand Gap Elementary School in Sand Gap Kentucky. Due to the water that rises into the cemetary from the Indian creek. Daddy had a "thing" about not wanting laid to rest in that particular place.
