Can you please pass this around and see if anyone can help me identify the "O.E. Davis" refer to below: Excerpt from: Portrait & Biographical Record of St. Clair County, Illinois. Chicago: Chapman, 1892, pages 249-250. Obtained from the St. Clair County Genealogical Society, PO Box 431, Belleville, IL 62222-0431 "Our subject (Grace Lander) was the eldest of the children of the second marriage of her father (Henry Lander). She was born in Christian County, Ky., October 21, 1834, and that was her home until she was nineteen years old. She was educated at private schools until her marriage, which occurred in Kentucky in 1852, to O.E. Davis, a Kentuckian, a cousin of Jefferson Davis, and who lived but six months after marriage. One child was the result of this union, Harry Davis, who now holds the position of Police Magistrate in East St. Louis." Harry Davis (refered to above as son of O.E. Davis) was my mothers grandfather (I have pictures of him and clock form magistrates office) and is actually Henry William Davis. His death certificate identifies his father was William Davis and mother as Grace Lander both from Kentucky. Is it possible that this Orlando Earl Davis is my "O.E. Davis"?
