    1. [KYHOPKIN] Morton men with birth state MD living in Hopkins Co.in 1830-1850
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: MORTON, TOWNES, MAY Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4AB.2ACE/5068 Message Board Post: Would appreciate a lookup for Mortons in Hopkins Co., KY in 1830, 1840, 1850. Trying to locate Mortons who are connected to the Samuel Morton family found in Daviess County on the 1840 and 1850 census records. As Hopkins is a neighboring county so to speak would like for someone to see if Morton's with given names, William, John H.B., George H.,Richard, David, or Samuel Morton are listed there. The Samuel Morton with wife Mary A. is the only one I can document. Facts I know are that a George H. Morton and Thomas Morton are found in Izard Co., AR on the 1850 census. Thomas is 20 and living in the household of George H., 41. Both were born in MD as was the Samuel Morton found in 1840,50 in Daviess Co., KY. A marriage record was found in Muhlenberg Co., for a Geo. H. Morton and a Mary Ann Townes and I believe this couple to be the same George H. and Mary Ann Morton found in Izard Co., AR in 1850. Her age would prevent her from being the mother of the Thomas Morton found! in their household, but perhaps she was a second wife as I do not know the relationship of the two Morton men. In the 1860 Izard Co., census there is a Thomas Morton, only. George H. Morton must be deceased by 1860. There is a Ann Morton widow of a John H.B. Morton found in 1860 izard Co., and living in her household are the widow and young children of the Samuel Morton from the 1840 and 50 Daviess Co., KY census. If the Mary A. Morton who married the Barney May as listed above is (Samuel and Mary A.) oldest daughter, then she died in KY in 1856. Samuel Morton, b. 1800 and Mary A. Morton's youngest child was a daughter, Mary E., born in 1855 in AR. So I believe that Samuel and Mary A. Morton left Daviess Co., KY about 1855, perhaps after this older daughter died. The common thread is the birth state of MD for all of these Morton men, but I do not know if or how they are related. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Contact: dbton@yahoo.com
