George Phipps He was the son of 2. ? Phipps and 3. Rachel Harmon. Generation No. 2 2. ? Phipps He married 3. Rachel Harmon. 3. Rachel Harmon, born Bet. 1765 - 1775. She was the daughter of 6. Thomas Harmon. Child of ? Phipps and Rachel Harmon is: 1 i. George Phipps Generation No. 3 6. Thomas Harmon, born Abt. 1745 in Frederick County, Maryland; died Aft. 1803 in Shelby County, Kentucky. Notes for Thomas Harmon: Thomas, was probably born about 1745. He may have been the Thomas who was taxed at Woodford County, Kentucky in 1792 and 1798. In 1792 he had a son age 16 to 21 (b. 1771 to 1776), this may be Abraham with Isaac all ready out of the house living somewhere else. Taxed near Thomas at Woodford County was a William Harmon who apparently had children the same age as Thomas. I have not researched Woodford County or Henderson County in depth, so this is just a guess that Thomas and William were brothers. Thomas Harmon appears in the 1800 Shelby County KY tax records. ______________________________________________ Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Harmon of the County of Henderson State of Kentucky for divers good causes me hereunto moving have made ordained constituted and appointed and by these presents do make ordain constitute and appoint my trusty son Isaac Harmon of the County and state aforesaid my true and lawful attorney for me and in my behalf to sell and dispose as to him may seem best of two certain tracts or parcels of land situate lying in the county aforesaid containing each two hundred acres which I obtained from the commisioners in conformity to the act of assembly for encouraging and granting relief to settlers south of Green River and in conformity to the act of assembly for settling and improving the vacant lands of this commonwealth from the county court of Henderson on the first recorded tract the said Isaac now resides and having sold or disposed of the same as aforesaid to convey make over and confirm the said lands in fee simple or otherwise in as! full and complete a manner as I myself might or could do were I personaly present and to recieve to his own use and benefit the money or property arising from the sales of said lands and grant complete discharges for the smae in a full and ample a manner as I could in person hereby ratifying approving and confirming whatever the said Isaac harmon may do or have done in or about the premises In testimony whereof I have set my hand and affixed my seal this 17th day of February 1803. Tho's Harmon seal Henderson County This Power of Attorney from Thomas Harmon to Isaac Harmon was presented to me in my office acknowledged by the said Thomas Harmon to be his act and deed and thereupon admitted to record given uner my hand as clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid this 17th day of February 1803. Am Barbour ___________________________________________ This indenture made and entered into this 21st day of September 1835 between William D Allison commissioner appointed by a decree of the Henderson Circuit Court on behalf of the heirs of Thomas Harmon decd of the first part and Isaac Harmon of the second part witnesseth that whereas at the September term 1834 of the Henderson Circuit Court a decree was pronounced by the judge thereof then siting in a certain suit in Chancery depending in said Court between the said Isaac Harmon complainant and George Harmon Martha Curry formerly Martha Harmon heirs of said Thomas Harmon dec'd George Phipps heir of Rachel Phipps dcs'd who was heir of said Thomas Harmon dec'd and Thomas Harmon, John Harmon, Isaac Harmon Martha Harmon and Elizabeth Harmon heirs of Abraham Harmon dec'd who was heir of the said Thomas Harmon de'c and the other unknown heirs of said Rachael Phipps and Abraham Harmon and dependents which said decree reads in the words following [snip] convey unto the said Isaac Ha! rmon the two tracts of land [snip] south bank of Green River [snip] on the waters of Deer Creek [snip]. ________________________________________ These lands of Henderson KY were applied for before 1800 and patents approved in 1813 and 1818. The 1803 power of Attorney apparently reflected that he could not give his son a bill of sale to them as he did not yet possess and approved patent. The 1835 court action apparently cleared the title to the lands. Thomas may have died further east in KY than Henderson County. Children of Thomas Harmon are: i. Martha Harmon, born Bet. 1765 - 1775; married ? Curry. 3 ii. Rachel Harmon, born Bet. 1765 - 1775; married ? Phipps. iii. Isaac Harmon, born Bet. 1765 - 1775 in Frederick County, Virginia; died 1848 in Henderson County, Kentucky; married (1) Mary Eastwood; born Bet. 1770 - 1785 in Virginia; died Bet. 1814 - 1818 in Henderson County, Kentucky; married (2) Frances Winnefred Ashby August 10, 1818 in Hopkins County, Kentucky; born 1789; died Aft. 1860 in Webster County, Kentucky.
