This is forwarded from Nancy Pattullo. Thanks, Nancy. Thought you might want to share this with researchers on the Webster co. web site. Johnsons Island, located in Ohio was a prisoner of war camp where many of the Confederate soldiers from Webster and Hopkins Co. were held. This site also has a Confederate cemetery. The Island is trying to be developed for housing, and the historic site is in jeporady of being destroyed. Dr. David R. Bush, Ph.D has been doing research and is trying to preserve the site. For further info. his web site is; www.johnsonsisland.com and his e mail is dbush@mail.heidelberg.edu Thanks for any help, Nancy Holloman Pattullo Carole Palmer, coordinator Webster County KYGenWeb Page http://www.rootsweb.com/~kywebste/ ==== KYWEBSTE Mailing List ==== Webster County Newspaper Abstracts http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=localities.northam. usa.states.kentucky.websternews&maxrows=25&dir=next
