He located William and Anna in the Raleigh, Union County 1880 Census. The census listed Anna's age as 32 in 1880. I've forwarded a copy of his e-mail to your computer. It looks as if she was born ca. 1847. Hope this helps. Cheri

The number is probably 12, not 2. My database shows at least 9 children living in 1900. I don't have death dates for a couple. A few were still living in the 1940's as they were mentioned in the obits of others. I think we're on the right track. Thanks for your determination in trying to get this right; Accuracy is everything when it comes to the family tree. Cheri

Maybe she was born in 1844??But in the Kentucky deaths, it shows she was 79 when she died in 1933, it would make it 1854 .. Have I done a typo??Thanks, I just want my record to be as correct as I can make it, because if someone asks and I have wrong info, not good. I know you are probably sick about the 1900 Carlisle county census, however, in downloading a copy of the form so I can read the top, another puzzle.. under item 10, " nubmer of years of present marriage" and it is marked ......1..... Okay, thats all I can stand. Ruth

Surnames: William Buchanan 1843 Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4AB.2ACE/5009.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Cheri: I went back to the Census for 1900 Carlisle County, Kentucky to make sure I had read it as good as possible. What is baffling me is the number of children under item 11, which reads, " mother of how many children" and the number there sure looks like 2... Under item 12 - " Number of these children living".. I first thought it looked like 0.... But now going back it looks like an odd shapped 6... So, did the census taker forget to put a 1 in front of 2 and make it a total of 12 children???? I went back over the family and counted number of people that could have been living in 1900, and came up with 6., but I did not have the dates of death of several of the children...Cheri, I think this is devinitely the family but some errors on census taker's part. Don't you think???? Ruth

Surnames: William Buchanan Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4AB.2ACE/5025 Message Board Post: Cheri, I don't know. lf all the data goes with what has been posted and verified I would stick up that. Someone has done an awful lot of work to get this data out. I was surprised when I came across the William Buchanan in the 1900 Carlisle County Census with a wife named Mary.and the dates of birth being the same as the ones we have. I don't know what to say. I was hoping for someone who had searched the family out to send me a note to clear my mind. I certainly don't want to discredit anyone's work. It is just too hard and time consuming. But, there is a Buchanan, William born Sept 1843, and a wife named Mary born May 1854 in the 1900 Carlisle county Census. I was searching for an Oglesby family when I came across the Buchanan family and it kinda confused me. So, Cheri, I don't know.. I was searching and compilling the Buchanan family for one of my first cousins and have always gone with the already credited info. Now I have a question. Were there two, could be. born same places, could be., error by census taker, maybe by number of children, but not by name and dob... Also a note to the Buchanan and Crabtree researchers, I am not disputing anybody's hard work, just curious... Ruth

I have a possible death of Mary E (Kirkwood) Moore. I took a guess that it was it and her grandaughter who lives there in Madisonville is going to the grave to check it out. Don't know where she is buried, she never told me. She said she thinks I am right. We believe it was in 10/18/1964. Anyone have any info on this? Would appreciate it.
