Martha Moore Cates may or may not have gone by the name of "Mattie" There is a 1893 Marriage record from Jessamine County, which seems to fit, bearing the Name "Mattie Moore". Both were born in Kentucky but apparently not in Madison County. They are my grand parents and so far, I'm getting nowhere... Any assistance would be much appreciated. In the 1910 Census, they had the following children listed: Mertle age 17 Mary age 14 Mable age 11 Maud age 9 Robert age 7 Frank age 5 William likely born between 1874 and 1875 Martha likely born between 1875 and 1876 Much thanks for ANY assistance! IF the divorce was in Hopkins Co it would be recorded in the Circuit Court Clerk's office. The problem with this is that they will not do any lookups or give out any info... the records are public information so you, or anyone else, may visit the clerks office and search for them, but by law the folks in the office cannot even look in the index for you. These records have never been transcribed or microfilmed. The HCGS has been trying to get them filmed by the LDS but so far it hasn't happened. Hope this helps. However, William Bridges was still alive and buying/selling land in Crittenden County, KY, where he was raised, in 1903. Their son, James Samuel Bridges, eventually moved to Dunklin County, MO. Hi, Looking for information on Nathaniel Jones of Hopkins, KY 1870 Census shows Nathaniel, Mary, William, Sarah, and twin boys Nathaniel and Joseph. (Nebo Precinct). I have been unable to find Nathaniel and Mary after that. I have located Nathaniel jr and Joseph in Texas. The rest of the family is a mystery. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks........Sue
Hi Kathi, I think I have found the people you are looking for in the Buntin/Siria line. My paternal line is Buntin. William Henderson Buntin married Elizabeth Groves in 1842, Hopkins CO. Two of their many children were Thomas (Tom) Buntin and Julia Buntin. Julia Ann Buntin was born in 1846 and married Absalom W. Siria. Julia and Absalom had a daughter and named her Minerva who was born in 1869. You said William Hodges was born to Minerva and her husband, a Hodges. If William Hodges was raised by his grandmother Buntin that would have been his great grandmother, Elizabeth (Betsy) Buntin but she died in 1890. The Tom Buntin relative was Julia's brother and Minerva's uncle. Perhaps he took in William Hodges. He was known to have taken in relatives to live with him as did his parents William Henderson Buntin and Betsy. William Henderson and Betsy were my great, great grandparents. Tom Buntin was my great grandfather. His wife's name was Lucy. In any case, Minerva's mother Julia Ann was a Buntin who married Absalom Siria and Minerva was their daughter. Hope this helps.
