It is my belief that Elizabeth is John Cockrells mother. I have found in Vol 8 1836 Henry County Deeds page 246 a court order for division of land and award of dower of Elizabeth Cockrell amoung her heirs: John Cockrell, Richard Hudson (husband of Nancy Cockrell) and Jackson Estes (husband of Nancy Cockrell). The only clue I have regarding Elizabeths' husband & John's father is the marriage record of Nancy Cockrell and Richard Hudson in 1828 in Henry County KY indicates Wm as father of Nancy. But William is NOT in the 1830 census. I am currently looking at microfilm deeds, will, court records from 1820-1830 trying to locate more specific information. I would be happy to make copies of these pages from deeds/wills etc and mail to you. I have spent many hours trying to find a William Cockreall and Elizabeth ? married in the late 1700's The only one I can find in 1790's in Maryland - but I have absolutely ! no proof that this is the right people. It is very difficult to make the jump back from KY over the mountains - so many people came to KY in that time period.
